Andrew Mount heads to Nottingham on Thursday 23rd October for his best bets, as he looks to continue his stunning run of form. He has three selections for the action on the level, as he attempts to knock in more winners.

2.30 Nottingham – TIRIAC (1pt win – 4/1 bet365, Sky Bet, Paddy Power)
TIRIAC bombed out at Pontefract when I bet him last time, finishing last of the 13 runners, but his stall 11 of 13 draw and a slow start made life impossible for Paul Midgley’s five-year-old. I had expected a high-draw bias that day with the runners swinging wide in the straight, but it didn’t materialise and it was a huge advantage to be drawn low. Six of the seven winners drawn in stall 4 or lower and the other emerged from stall 5. Seven runners who were drawn in stall 8 or higher at that meeting have run since and they have recorded form figures of 3212171 (3-7), with the wins at 25-1, 5-1 and 2-1. Tiriac has the soft ground that suits, tends to do his winning in spring/autumn and is 9lb lower than for his last success.
3.00 Nottingham – ASHDOWN FOREST (1pt win – 4/1 generally)
ASHDOWN FOREST has shown promise from off the pace over shorter trips in three of his four starts and looks worth a bet now upped to a marathon distance in this 2m2f handicap. He had subsequent dual winner The Pouncing Lion (now rated 95) just behind him when a ten-length second to a Godolphin odds-on shot in a 1m1f heavy-ground Goodwood novice on his debut last October and he was surrounded by horses now rated in the 80s/90s when a staying on 33-1 sixth of 12 in s 1m3f novice at Kempton on his three-year-old debut in July. Last month’s best-of-the-closers third at Haydock (1m6f, beaten by less than two lengths) was another solid effort, he drops from Class 4 to Class 5 level today and his handicap mark of 70 could still be on the generous side..
4.32 Nottingham – FLASH BARDOT (1pt win – 6/1 bet365, 888sport)
FLASH BARDOT has been underwhelming this season, but she hasn’t faced her preferred conditions, namely a field of 11 or fewer runners, Class 3 or lower company and ground that is genuinely soft or heavy. Her record under such conditions stands at 1112 (3-4) for a profit of £13.50 to a £1 level stake at SP, with the runner-up effort by just three-quarters of a length at Newbury in the corresponding week last year. Jack Channon’s mare has ticks in all three boxes in this 1m6f handicap and the drop to Class 5 level will suit.
