CLASSY BOY failed to get his head in front in six starts last year but placed in five of them and he clocked a good time when runner-up in a 1m1f Newmarket nursery on heavy ground when we last saw him. Karl Burke’s son of Calyx has been gelded ahead of his seasonal reappearance and could be hard to catch if blasting off from his low draw in this small-field 7.5f contest.
4.30 Beverley – SHALADAR (1pt win – 4/1 bet365)
SHALADAR tends to find trouble in big fields and is best judged on his handicap record in fields of ten or fewer runners of 2312212126722 (3-13). He finished runner-up at 12-1 on his comeback last term, doing best of those to come from off the pace and will hopefully get a decent gallop to aim at in this six-runner contest.
