2.52 Ayr – GLOBAL HUMOR (1pt win – 13/8 bet365)
Progeny of the sire Distorted Humor have a good record at Ayr, landing 11 of their 46 starts (23.9% strike-rate) for a profit of £23.86 to a £1 level stake at SP and Jim Goldie’s GLOBAL HUMOR has contributed four of those wins. His Ayr record when returned to the track five days or sooner since his latest outing stands at 1161 (3-4) and he’s worth a small bet having run second over a furlong shorter trip here just 72 hours ago. The veteran likes to come from off the pace and should get a sufficiently strong gallop to chase, despite the small field.
6.00 Punchestown – BUDDY ONE (1pt ew – 9/1 Coral)
BUDDY ONE’s best efforts have come in the March to November period over trips of 2m4f or further, resulting in form figures of 63231142 (2-8), with the sixth place when 250-1 and the fourth place at 40-1 in the Stayers’ Hurdle at this year’s Cheltenham festival. He found only one too good at Aintree last time and with the good ground against odds-on favourite Teahupoo he looks the value each-way play.
6.35 Punchestown – ANNA BUNINA (1pt e/w – 25/1 generally)
Spring horse ANNA BUNINA finished a creditable 22-1 seventh of 22 on unsuitably soft ground in the Pertemps Final at the Cheltenham festival and the eight-year-old remains open to improvement over trips of about 3m. Her record in April or May reads 182151326 (3-9) for a profit of £7.50 to a £1 level stake at SP, including a 28-1 second to Echoes In Rain in the Grade 1 Mares Champion Hurdle over 2m3f at this meeting last year. Her patient running style will be an asset – horses who led or raced prominently in their prep race are 0-80 in today’s race – and the good ground is perfect for her.
