Andrew Mount saves his best bets for Thursday evening, with two selections from Chelmsford’s all-weather card.

7.15 Chelmsford – AZURE ZAIN (1pt win – 11/2 Paddy Power)
Low-drawn runners were massively favoured at Pontefract’s meeting on October 20th where AZURE ZAIN could have his 14-1 third in the 5f handicap upgraded as he was ridden patiently from stall 10 of 12. The winner (stall 1) and runner-up (stall 6) were better berthed and prominent throughout, as was the fourth-placed finisher (stall 3). Richard Fahey’s three-year-old did well to finish just over two lengths behind the winner, is likely to have the race run to suit and he shouldn’t have an issue with the switch to Polytrack.
7.45 Chelmsford – MART (1pt win – 10/3 generally)
MART’s record in Class 5 or lower company when returned to the track quickly (within 21 days) stands at 66111221110710 (71-4) for a profit of £30.88 to a £1 level stake at SP and he had perhaps been off the trac for a shade longer than ideal (28 days) when beaten by a neck into second place at Lingfield last time. He should encounter a decent pace to chase here and can go well under Toby Moore. In-form Dylan Cunha’s four-year-old caught the eye on his sole previous Chelmsford, finishing second to an all-the-way winner after blowing the start.
LEVEL UP held on well from the closers when scoring aby a nose over course and distance on his penultimate start and David Evans’ six-year-old can be forgiven his subsequent 22-1 fifth of seven to Maris Angel at Wolverhampton as he went off hard towards the inside rail in a race set up for those ridden patiently. That form has been well advertised by the winner who has gone on to complete a hat-trick and Level Up’s course form in Class 5 (tonight’s grade) or lower stands at 221 (1-3), with the first defeat by a head and he looks the chief threat.
