4.52 Bath – MOE’S LEGACY (0.5pt e/w – 14/1 Paddy Power)
KING OF STARS looks the likely pace angle in this 5f handicap, but he’s gone four years since his latest success and has never won in a field of more than seven runners. Of greater interest is MOE’S LEGACY, who clocked a fast time when fourth of 11 in a Class 2 5.7f handicap here last time, a run that took her course record when visored to 331114 (3-6), with all three wins on good to firm or faster going. Today’s faster ground will suit this strong traveller and the cur back to 5f looks a possible source of improvement in a race that should be strongly run.
7.00 Newcastle – BALDOSA (0.5 pt e/w – 25/1 generally)
Nigel Tinkler is enjoying a fine spell with his runners in nursery company, and I want to chance BALDOSA in this 7f contest, despite the daughter of Time Test making her all-weather debut. Since the beginning of 2011, backing the yard’s runners in two-year-old handicaps would have found 34 winners from 288 bets (11.8% strike-rate) for a huge profit of £196.03 to a £1 level stake at SP (+£451.56 at Betfair SP after 2% commission). Those who also raced in a nursery on their latest outing were 22 from 151 (15.6%) for a profit of £191.95 at SP (+£385.98 BSP). Baldosa was only sixth on her nursery debut at Beverley last time but was ridden patiently when it paid to be on the front end and fourth-placed Supreme Dancer, the only hold-up to finish ahead of her, went close at Musselburgh next time. Progeny of Time Test have a low strike-rate over 5f-7f on Tapeta, but plenty have placed at big prices, and this track should suit if she’s ridden patiently again.

Andrew’s Angles – Vital Gelding Stats And Trainers To Watch
The gelding of racehorses has been in the news this week after leading owner Kia Joorabchian (Amo Racing) claimed that Ralph Beckett had gelded one of his horses in error, nullifying any future stud value the horse in question may have had.
