7.15 Lingfield – LOHOOBB (1pt win – 20/1 Sky Bet, Paddy Power, 16/1 Ladbrokes, Coral)
The form of Humidity’s Newbury maiden win on May 16 is working out incredibly well. Commander’s Intent, 11th of 18 from a poor high draw when debuting in that 6f contest at the Berkshire venue, was heavily punted (85-40 from 6-1) when winning well at Yarmouth last Thursday. Newbury 80-1 tenth Bourbon Blues improved markedly from that debut effort when scoring by four and a half lengths at Brighton last Friday when backed into 6-4 favouritism and was followed shortly after by Haydock winner Morris Dancer (7-4f) who had finished a 25-1 seventh at Newbury. Newbury 14th Do Or Do Not nearly made it four from four for the Newbury form when second by a neck (8-1 from 16-1) to short-priced favourite Tadej at York on Saturday. Today, we have two more runners from that Newbury contest – TELLING TIME (beaten by more than 28 lengths when a 200-1 17th) who runs in the 2.47 at Leicester and the Owen Burrows-trained LOHOOBB, who went down by 13 lengths at Newbury in 16th place. The last-named drifted from 11-1 out to 18-1 that day and ruined his chance by pulling hard but he’s still worth a small interest in this 6f novice contest, despite having the worst of the draw in stall 1. I’m not going to recommend a bet on Telling Time though I have had a tiny each-way interest at 100-1.

During the jumps season we’re used to British trainers being on the receiving end of a good kicking from Willie Mullins and other Irish trainers. It must have been heartbreaking for Dan Skelton to try all season to land his first trainers championship only for Mullins to win easily despite not seemingly bothered until the…
