Fresh from landing a sparkling double on Monday (advised 8/1 & 5/1), Andrew Mount has a trio of tips to follow on Tuesday 4th November, as he looks to continue his excellent run of form…

2.10 Lingfield – THE THAMES BOATMAN (1pt e/w – 100/30 generally with the firms paying three places)
MCLOVEN, FORAGER, CLEARPOINT and ALL WAYS GALMOROUS can all be expected to put pace to this 5f handicap and it’s hard to escape the conclusion that this will be set up for a closer. BINADHAM has possibilities under Billy Loughnane after his 16-1 third to Forager over course and distance last time but preference is for THE THAMES BOATMAN who will appreciate the return to the minimum trip after his modest fifth of nine in a 6f Chelmsford handicap last month. He fared best of the closers when runner-up to Clearpoint over course and distance on his penultimate outing (winner made all) and his full record over track and trip in Class 3 or lower company reads 1122 (2-4). It might seem strange betting him each-way at odds of around 3-1 but I want a rebate if he’s second or third.
3.27 Redcar – STORMY PEARL (0.5pt e/w – 12/1 Paddy Power, 11/1 generally)
The tailwind at Redcar, a track that favours front-runners anyway, will make life extra hard for hold-up horses today and STORMY PEARL is taken to make all in this 6f handicap. David Thompson’s mare was only eighth of 12 at Hamilton last time but was poorly drawn towards the far side in stall 4 and the other low-drawn runners from that 5f handicap have done well since. Kyber Crystal, last from stall 1, was a 10-1 winner at Pontefract next time (she also runs in today’s race), Giselles Izzy (another who re-oppose today), ninth from stall 3, was a 22-1 winner over today’s course and distance three runs later, and Thunderstorm Katie, fifth from stall 2, has won twice since at odds of 8-1 and 5-1. I’m expecting the runners to head far side and, if that’s the case, Stormy Pearl looks ideally drawn in stall 1.
4.02 Warwick – GETALEAD (1.5pt win – 15/2 bet365, 13/2 generally)
GETALEAD has a fine record in the autumn, recording form figures in handicap hurdles during the September to November period of 21111161181 (8-11) for a profit of £47.20 to a £1 level stake at SP, improving to 2111111 (6-7) in Class 4 company. Kevin Pickard’s nine-year-old could only finish a 7-2 fourth of eight on his latest start but that was on July 1st and he was given a wind operation soon after. The likely strong gallop will help and he win this race last year.
