7.25 Ffos Las – WARRIOR KING (1pt win – 4/1 bet365)
WARRIOR KING needed the experience when mid-division on his debut in Ernst Blofeld’s 1m2f Kempton novice back in April and that race has thrown up plenty of winners, with the first five across the line now rated 89, 90, 79, 84, 81 and 81. Harry Charlton’s three-year-old failed to settle when an 18-1 sixth to Pole Star in a 1m4f Haydock novice next time (first five now rated 90, 83, 76, 76 and 73) and he never got involved from off the pace over 1m2f at Leicester on his qualifying run for a handicap mark. Cheekpieces go on for his handicap debut and an opening mark of 65 gives connections something to win with. His yard is 14 from 55 when using first-time cheekpieces on a turf handicapper (+£45.53 to a £1 level stake at SP, expected winners = 8.96, A/E = 1.56), including 12 from 33 for the three-year-olds (+£51.03).
8.25 Ffos Las – RATING (1.5pt win – 11/4 bet365)
RATING clocked a fast time for the grade when a head behind Spirit Of The Law in a 1m2f Class 6 handicap at Chepstow last time where the pair pulled seven and a half lengths clear of the third – the 7-4 favourite Cotswold Cottage. That rival scored easily at Ffos Las on her next outing while the winner finished a solid third in a Class 5 handicap when returned to Chepstow for her next run. Rating is unlikely to be inconvenienced by the cut back to 1m tonight and trainer Gary Brown is 1-1 with his Flat runners here (0-4 over jumps, though three of those started at 80-1, 50-1 and 33-1).

Andrew’s Angles – Soft Ground Sires for When Summer Weather Turns
The British weather has taken a turn for the worse in the past few days (as it usually does when hosepipe bans are introduced) and we saw thunderstorms turn the ground soft at Windsor on Monday night and Beverley raced on officially heavy going.
