OH SO GRAND has a good overall strike-rate (five wins from ten starts) and I’m inclined to forgive her two modest efforts since January’s smooth success in a Class 2 fillies’ handicap at Lingfield. They
didn’t go fast enough for her in a £100k handicap on the Tapeta at Newcastle in late March and it was the same story at Salisbury 138 days later when a 7-1 four-length fifth of eight in Listed company, doing second best of the closers. Third-placed Sea Of Roses, best of those to come from off the pace, landed a
Listed contest at Windsor on her next start and the likely stronger gallop in this 16-runner line-up will suit. Simon & Ed Crisford’s four-year-old looks well drawn in stall 2 and progeny of her sire, Postponed, tend to improve with age – the two-year-olds have a 6.4% strike-rate (-£146.11 to a £1 level stake at SP), the three-year-olds have a 12.4% strike-rate (-£167.52) and the four-year-olds are running at 15.7% for a profit of £2.96.

3.55 Sandown – DREAMROCKER (1pt win – 6/1 bet365)
DREAMROCKER was caught wider than ideal in the early stages from his poor high draw when 12th and was also prominent in a race set up for the closers. Throw in the unsuitably fast going and it’s clearly
safe to ignore that effort. Ed Walker’s four-year-old had fared best of the closers when third on good ground over course and distance the time before and the winner, Hat Toss, franked that form when going down narrowly in a better race over 7f here on his next start. Dreamrocker has form figures of 183213 (2-6) on good/softer turf and stall 10 could help of they track wide in the straight in search of better ground.
