The Paul Nicholls-trained IOUPY COLLONGES has failed to shine since switched to fences, pulling up in Chianti Classico’s race at Chepstow in October when reportedly suffering from an irregular heartbeat and finishing more than ten lengths back in third of the four runners at Newbury. However, he was in good form on right-handed tracks at this time last year and the change of direction could be just what he needs. His record this way round reads 12121 (3-5), with the latest runner-up effort excusable as he raced in the ‘swamp’ on the inside rail at Taunton. Several of his rivals have failed to convince in the jumping department and he looks a solid bet.
