7.50 Leicester – LOOKING FOR QUEEN (1pt win – 7/1 888Sport, 13/2 bet365, Sky Bet)
The Kevin Ryan-trained LOOKING FOR QUEEN appreciated the step up to 7f when a 16-1 second to Circe in a Doncaster maiden on her final juvenile outing and that form was given a timely boost when the winner landed a handicap off 83 at Newbury last Saturday. Looking For Queen has only had one run this term, finishing a respectable third (15-2) to Rolica (subsequently a three-length 50-1 sixth in the 1000 Guineas) and she looks set to improve for a recent wind operation. Her trainer is 12 from 49 with three-year-olds on their first run back after wind surgery and a mark of 76 looks fair enough now that she goes handicapping for the first time.
8.20 Leicester – ASH WEDNESDAY (1pt ew – 11/1 generally, three places, 10/1 Sky Bet, four places)
ASH WEDNESDAY ran a good race when we backed him at Bath last time, staying on into a 10-1 fifth of 12 after being supported from about twice those odds. He could have done with sitting closer to the early pace that day (the winner made all) and while it may seem risky to back him in a race lacking obvious pace angles, the booking of Hollie Doyle suggests that a more prominent ride could be in the offing. Heather Main’s three-year-old is well drawn in stall 2 and he arrives here with the second-best last time out speed figure according to Proform’s figures.
