3.20 Redcar – WALSINGHAM (1pt win – 9/4 Paddy Power/Betfair)
WALSINGHAM drew a blank in eight starts for Dermot Weld but the switch to David O’Meara looks set to bring about improvement and the four-year-old has been gelded since his nose second in a Leopardstown maiden last month. His new yard has is profitable to back blind with stable switchers who were also having their first start since a gelding operation (+£46.73 to a £1 level stake at SP since 2015). Walsingham comes out clear top on career-best speed figures with Proform – another profitable angle for O’Meara-trained stable switchers – and he’s well berthed in stall 2.

3.30 Goodwood – TIRIAC (1pt win – 3/1 bet365)
TIRIAC has been underwhelming on good to soft going the last twice but they’re calling it heavy at Goodwood today and that will suit the son of Sixties Icon. Jack Channon’s four-year-old has had three runs on officially heavy going previously, winning twice and doing second best of the far-side bunch when fifth of 16 at Newmarket. The Channon yard traditionally does well in turf handicaps in the autumn months and today’s pilot David Probert has won on him before.
4.05 Goodwood – NOVUS (2pt win – 7-1 SkyBet, 6-1 generally)
It’s all about the ground where NOVUS is concerned and Gary & Josh Moore’s four-year-old can’t have it deep enough. She’s yet to race on officially heavy going but has form figures on soft of 111124 (4-6), with the first defeat by a short head in a 1m Listed contest at today’s venue and the other when a 20-1 fourth (beaten by just over five lengths) at Windsor last time. The ground was quicker than the official description that day (Proform rated it as good to soft) and she usually runs well in autumn (she’s 2-2 in October).
