Andrew Mount has three tips for Wednesday 26th November, as he heads to Southwell, Wetherby and Newcastle for his best bets of the day…

12.30 Southwell – BREATHE EASY (0.5pt e/w – 18/1 bet365)
Crockham Heath, backed from 33-1 into 17-2 prior to scoring at Southwell last week, provided this column with a winner on the Andrew Balding second-time out juveniles angle and the same system prompts me to back BREATHE EASY in this 7f novice contest. The gelded son of Bated Breath was sent off at 4-1 his debut at Kempton on November 5th but could only finish sixth after running green and hanging to his left on the right-handed track. The switch to left-handed Southwell could suit and the yard’s two-year-olds, who were beaten on their debuts, are 119 from 666 (17.9%) when returned to the track within 28 days for a profit of £167.49 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 96.18, A/E = 1.24).
12.38 Wetherby – IT’S MAISY (1pt e/w – 13/2 bet35)
The Joel Parkinson and Sue Smith-trained IT’S MAISY was well backed for a Class 4 handicap hurdle on her reappearance at Newcastle on November 14th but could only finish a 16-length fourth of seven. However, her yard’s runners usually improve for the outing – especially the hurdlers – and she tends to struggle above Class 5 grade. When racing in Class 5 handicap hurdles – today’s level – she has form figures of 11221 (3-5) and she won second time out to seasons ago (close-up third last year).
4.30 Newcastle – ITICA (0.5pt e/w – 16/1 bet365)
ITICA qualifies as a bet for me on the same Andrew Balding angle as Breathe Easy in the 12.30 at Southwell. The Ulysees colt beat only a couple home when 20-1 for a 14-runner 1m novice contest at Chelmsford on November 6th, never getting into contention behind odds-on winner Starlight Time after a slow start, but the winning time was useful and the horse who finished a modest seventh – Cotai Lights – won by three and a half lengths at Newcastle next time.
