4.30 Hamilton – TAFSIR (0.5pt e/w – 18/1 bet365, 16/1 William Hill, Betfred)

TAFSIR hasn’t shown a huge amount in three runs this season, finishing miles behind when a 28-1 last of 13 at Musselburgh on her comeback before a seventh of eight and sixth of seven at today’s venue. However, those two course defeats came in Class 3 company and, last time, the race was not run to suit her patient running style. Jim Goldie’s six-year-old has form figures in handicaps at Hamilton in Class 4 (today’s grade) or lower of 431231311 (4-9), suggesting each-way claims, especially with a huge field and plenty of prominent racers to tow her along. Stablemate LETSBEFRANK might prove to be the biggest danger.

7.22 Kempton – ZABEEL ROAD (0.5pt e/w – 16/1 generally)

There are plenty of interesting runners in this 7f Class 4 handicap for three-year-olds, not least the William Haggas-trained handicap debutant BINHAREER, gelded since we last saw him, pace angle CRIITCAL ACLAIM and George Scott’s FORCE AND VALOUR, whose form ties in with 97-rated stablemate No Retreat. However, that trio are priced between 3-1 and 5-1 and the value lies with Jamie Osborne’s ZABEEL ROAD who caught the eye over a straight 7f on turf at Lingfield last time. The stands’ side ‘golden highway’ was fully open for business that day but his good draw in stall 9 of 10 was soon compromised by a slow start and by William Carver switching him to the outside of the field. He switched back inside but then returned to the centre of the track to challenge, doing really well to finish a 33-1 fourth. Sixth-placed Toy Soldier gave the form a boost when scoring by seven lengths (albeit in a claimer) at Leicester yesterday and Saffie Osborne takes over today.
