2.10 Beverley – ALBESEEINGYER (1pt win – 7/1 bet365, William Hill)
ALBESEEINGYER scored on soft ground at Doncaster on her reappearance last April and followed up at Leicester the following month, again on soft going. Steph Hollinshead’s five-year-old could only finish ninth of 19 at York on her sole subsequent 2023 outing but the good to firm ground was not ideal and the absence since that run suggests that there were excuses. The daughter of Al Kazeem has won five of her ten career starts, a fine record for one rated just 70 and with her yard in good form, is taken to make a winning comeback despite the 12-month absence.
2.58 Newton Abbot – JUNIPER (1.5pt win – 7-4 Sky Bet, Coral)
I’m happy to oppose Champagne Court (rarely wins outside of the November/December period) and Wayfinder (prefers good ground and a more galloping track) and the obvious one to take them on with is JUNIPER, whose forcing style is ideal for Newton Abbot. She runs best in very small fields, recording form figures of 11111 (5-5) in fields or five or fewer runners and she drops in grade after her Cheltenham third last month. The soft ground is ideal for the daughter of Malinas and I can see her going off much shorter than the general offer of 7-4.
