HYPERFOCUS trailed home sixth of eight in a 6f handicap at Haydock last time but wasn’t best drawn in stall 7 and was unable to adopt his usual front-running role after an awkward start. Tim Easterby’s veteran has yet to race here but the track should suit, as will the cut back to 5f. Stable jockey David Allan, missing at Haydock, is back on board and he might be able to dominate this time. MAKANAH has form figures on turf in fields of seven or fewer runners of 11212311 (5-8) and I shall play him in a forecast with the selection.

Bang in-form David Pipe did us a favour with King Turgeon at Chepstow yesterday, a win that took the yard’s record this month with chasers returning from 150 days or longer off the track to five winners from
five runners (Lady Balko’s subsequent fifth ruined the 100% record). PACHACUTI is a qualifier on the same angle in this 2m5f contest and also looks worth a bet. The seven-year-old was a winner on soft ground at Wincanton in late February when we last saw him and he finished second at Warwick on his reappearance last term.
