Jonbon and Pic D’Orhy are set to serve up a thrilling clash in the Ascot Chase at 3.35pm at Ascot on Saturday. Multiple Graded winners, the pair have some top class form on their CVs and they will face four rivals in the Grade 1 showpiece.
We take a look at the Ascot Chase runners, as well as the odds and trends before picking our 1-2-3 for what should be an entertaining race run over 2m 5f 13y.
2026 Ascot Chase Runners
Jonbon added another Grade 1 crown to his glittering CV and duly maintain the stunning record of not finishing outside of the first two in all 26 career starts under Rules. He was unfancied in the Clarence House Chase, but capitalised on a fall from Il Etait Temps and reeled in Thistle Ask. He steps up beyond two-and-a-half miles for the first time here, so heads into new territory, but has shown he continues to deliver the goods at the highest level and sets the standard.
Pic D’Orhy has stormed to victory in this race in 2024 and 2025, so goes in search of the hat-trick. A revelation around Ascot, the Paul Nicholls-trained raider has just struggled to deliver his best form in recent outings. The 11-year-old was well beaten in the 1965 Chase last time out, so needs to bounce back here.
Veteran Edwardstone rolled back the years at Kempton last time out with a win in the Silviniaco Conti Chase, but Alan King’s 12-year-old will need the fancied pair to underperform to claim the win. Blow Your Wad, Heltenham and Classic Maestro complete the sextet, but will all find this too hot.

- The biggest priced winner in the last 10 years has been 4/1

Ascot Chase Tips
What looks like a match on paper can duly turn into that with an epic finish. Pic D’Orhy is the reigning champion, but has been struggling to find his best, so is worth taking on. Jonbon bounced back to form last time out, and a repeat of that effort can see him prevail here. The step up in trip shouldn’t be too much of a worry and he can get the better of Pic D’Orhy and duly book his place in the Ryanair Chase at next month’s Cheltenham Festival with a win. Edwardstone can chase home the pair and pick up third spot.
