CopyBet’s November Racing Weekend from Ascot enjoys a second day on Saturday. Here are out through-the-card selections for you to follow.
12.25 Ascot – Restorations UK Novices’ Hurdle
Four of the six are last time out winners here, so potential is not an issue for most. French challenger KLOTH OF UTOPIA is preferred, as although he is conceding weight all round as a four-year-old, he is a half-brother to star French hurdler Theleme. His yard are sending a few runners to Ascot this weekend, while he is also owned by JP McManus, and his victory at Auteuil last time out was particularly striking.
#AD 18+ Bet on any UK or Irish horse race by selecting either an Early Price or a Show Price. When the race begins, the official Starting Price (SP) is set—if this SP is higher than the odds you took, your bet is automatically paid out at the better price. Early Price refers to odds offered well before the race, while Show Price (or Board Price) is available shortly before the start, just ahead of the official SP being confirmed. Full T&Cs apply.
12.55 Ascot – Copybet Mares’ Handicap Hurdle
Scarlet O’Tara was in very good form over the summer and could easily make waves in her first handicap start. However, she is stepping up a fair bit in trip here and is likely to face rain-softened ground for the first time since her bumper days. Those unknowns shade the verdict in favour of EUREKA CREEK, who is well treated on the best of her consistent chase form last season. Emma Lavelle’s charge is a proven entity on soft ground and over this far, while she should also step forward for a comeback run at Ffos Las last month.

1.30 Ascot – Copybet 1965 Chase (Grade 2)
With a lack of convincing enough opposition, PIC D’ORHY is strongly fancied to return to winning ways and claim a second successive 1965 Chase. He ended up with a penalty kick in last year’s renewal where Shishkin stood still at the start, but he still won readily anyway, while his second at Kempton, and subsequent success in the Grade 1 Ascot Chase, give him form that is vastly superior to anything his rivals have achieved. His Aintree disappointment to conclude last term is readily forgiven.

2.05 Ascot – 1st Class Logistics Berkshire National Handicap Chase
A new regional national on the roster. Preference is for KITTY’S LIGHT, for whom there is a different dynamic this term compared to last. Connections were clearly keen to mind his rating ahead of a Grand National tilt last term, but with his mark falling, he could probably do with a win soon in order to make it into this year’s race, which he only just scraped into last season off a mark 6lb higher than he is on currently. Recent form is not considered a concern given he likes a solid stamina test, with his fifth in the National in April a sign that he is still very capable on his day.

2.45 Ascot – Howden Ascot Hurdle (Grade 2)
Golden Ace is still unbeaten over hurdles, with her Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle form from the Cheltenham Festival being franked in multiple places since. Nevertheless, this could be a stern enough test in her first Graded race in open company and LUCKY PLACE may just progress past this field. He was beaten less than a length by Golden Ace at Taunton last term and meets her on 10lb better terms here. His form through the beginning of the year belied that of his stable and there could be further progress on the cards from this five-year-old.

3.20 Ascot – Lay & Wheeler Hurst Park Handicap Chase
It will be interesting to see how Marvel De Cerisy gets on as another French raider with interesting recent form in his home country. However, Paul Nicholls inherited SANS BRUIT from the continent last season, and the six-year-old could well be ripe to step forward from his seasonal reappearance here. He was progressing rapidly before taking in one race too many at the end of last term and his third on return in the Haldon Gold Cup was perfectly respectable, as his chance only faded from the last. The rain will not bother him and his trainer appears confident that there is plenty of leeway in his mark.

3.50 Ascot – Copybet Novices’ Handicap Hurdle
Keep an eye on Rubies Or Gold, as there is every chance Christian Williams’s charge finds his feet now upped substantially in trip on what should prove a slower surface. However, on known form, he is a risky betting proposition with plenty to find, and so the vote goes to COPSHILL LAD, who did well to win at Stratford on his debut for Harry Derham, ultimately outstaying a runner-up who has won since (the fifth has also scored in the interim). This longer trip should suit.
