Ayr Racing Tips (Tuesday 13 January 2026)
Seven races take place at Ayr on Tuesday afternoon, with the action getting underway at 12.48pm and concluding at 3.48pm. Andrew’s sole selection from the Scottish track runs in the 1.48pm race.
1.48 Ayr – Piaff Bubbles (0.5pt e/w – 12/1 bet365, 11/1 generally, three places, 10/1 Sky Bet four places is a good option)
Piaff Bubbles ran a shocker in a Class 4 handicap hurdle at Haydock his latest outing, pulling up after reportedly hanging to his right throughout. The Rebecca Menzies-trained ten-year-old is hardly prolific – landing just one of his 17 career starts – but the son of Fame And Glory is well equipped to handle today’s heavy going and his best efforts have come at this time of year. He was a winner at Wetherby on 14 January 2023 (3m, soft) and third in Class 4 company over today’s course and distance (soft), beaten by one length, on 21 January last year. The drop to Class 5 level for the first time since his neck second of 15 at Hexham in March 2023 will suit and progeny of his sire tend to improve with age.
Southwell Racing Tips (Tuesday 13 January 2026)
It’s a 4.30pm start for Southwell’s eight-race card this evening, but you have to wait until 8.00pm for Andrew’s best bet on the card, as he has a 2pt selection for the final race of the evening.
8.00 Southwell – Charlie’s Choice (2pt win – 11/4 generally)
Charlie’s Choice was undone by the steady early gallop and a wide trip when a close-up third at Lingfield on Saturday where he was backed from the overnight 9-4 into 11-10. It might be an odd statement, but I think that David Simcock’s six-year-old was unsuited by the drop from Class 5 to Class 4 level that day, as the tempo of the race was slower and he’s a better horse in a better race. The step back up to Class 4 level and return to Southwell won’t harm his chances – his record here reads 211336 (2-6) – and he’s the only hold-up horse in tonight’s six-runner line-up.
