Six meetings go to post on Wednesday across Britain and Ireland. Three turf, two jumps, and one all-weather card take place, with 41 races held in all.
GG tipster Joe Napier picks out our lucky 15 for Wednesday, with selections from Ayr and Yarmouth.
Ayr Racing Tips (Wednesday 20 May)
Eight races go to post at Ayr on Wednesday. We have two tips for the racing north of the border.
2.42 Ayr – Pearl Eye (1pt win – 10/3)
It is only 14 months since Pearl Eye dead-heated for the Spring Mile at Doncaster off a mark of 84. Due to a total nosedive in form, for two different trainers, he is now 11lb lower in the handicap than that day. Neither Darryll Holland or Gay Kelleway could consistently coax out his best on the racecourse. However, Jim Goldie has taken over his care and immediately produced a close call. He was third over course and distance two weeks ago, his best for some time. That also came on his reappearance and may have done the world of good. Off the same rating, Goldie may well get him firing once more.
3.42 Ayr – Degale (1pt win – 6/1)
Although the unexposed Return To Unit could be on a very good mark, his absence is worrying. A 217-day layoff may not be ideal, whereas Degale should be fighting fit. David and Nicola Barron’s charge was placed at 300/1 two seasons go, but has since proved that price was well wide of the mark for any race he could have contested. He won next time out at Ripon in novice company. Despite almost a year off, he was then second on handicap debut at Haydock last August. Three runs on the all-weather appear not to have suited since. However, he returned to turf full of promise once again, finishing third off this mark at Nottingham earlier this month. His turf handicap form is now 23 and a mark of 77 looks beneath his capabilities. There is more to come now he is racing regularly.
Yarmouth Racing Tips (Wednesday 20 May)
Yarmouth’s is an evening card on Wednesday. With six races taking place, we have two tips, including one in the last.
6.10 Yarmouth – Rogue Imperial (1pt win – 11/4)
The pair to have already raced do not bring frightening form into this contest. As such, while Archie Watson’s form has dived a bit of late, his Rogue Imperial looks a likely debutant to be forward and possess ability. He is a half-brother to Goodwood Galaxy, who won on his own debut last season. The selection was also an expensive purchase earlier in 2026, fetching 170,000gns in the sales. Watson’s juvenile runners are striking at a 33% rate so far this year, another factor in thinking the son of Too Darn Hot can swiftly get off the mark.
8.10 Yarmouth – Noble Guest (1pt win – 7/1)
The only course and distance scorer in the line-up, Noble Guest is closing in on winning again. The son of Mohaather took 11 races to get off the mark before doing so over track and trip last July. He then went in again two starts later, again at Yarmouth over 7f. He struggled up in class to end 2025 and has had excuses since coming back. Even so, his return was promising when third of six at this venue. Soft ground then went against him last week, but he is only 2lb above his last winning mark and it is interesting that George Margarson turns him out again so quickly. The four-year-old should be a leading candidate with the rain staying away.
