2025 Becher Chase Racecard
Wins in the London National, Peter Marsh Chase and Midlands Grand National has catapulted Sara Bradstock’s Mr Vango to the top table of the staying handicap chase division, and the ultra-consistent nine-year-old will be top-weight for this year’s Becher Chase. Second to Colonel Harry in the Grand Sefton over the National fences last month, Gaboriot is back looking to go one better and he is at the other end of the handicap and runs off bottom weight. Eighth in the Grand National, Dan Skelton’s mare Galia Des Liteaux is set for another crack at these obstacles, while Grand Sefton ninth White Rhino is back for another tilt around the National course. A winner of the 2023 Topham over these fences, Bill Baxter adds more depth to the race, whilst the Irish challenge is spearheaded by Gavin Cromwell’s Bioluminescence.

Bill BaxterBecher Chase Trends
Let’s pick out some of the key trends and stats to follow for the Becher Chase, as we look back at the last 10 renewals of the race and pick out some eye-catching trends that can help you decide your selection.
- 5 of the last 10 winners have been priced 10/1 or bigger
- Only 2 of the last 10 winners have carried more than 10st 9lbs to victory
- All 10 of the last winners have been trained in the UK
- 6 of the last 10 winners have been aged 8 or 9 years old
Becher Chase Tips
Eighth in the Grand National off a mark of 146 back in April 2024, Galia Des Liteaux takes her chance in the Becher Chase off a mark of 134, and with Tristan Durrell taking another 3lbs off then she has a huge chance of landing this prize. She often struggles with extreme trips, but this distance of 3m 1f should see her excel and she may have a little too much speed for Mr Vango, who can stay on best of the rest to grab second, with White Rhino finishing in third place.
