2025 Betfair Stayers’ Handicap Hurdle Racecard
A winner of this race 12 months ago, Shoot First is looking to emulate that success again on Saturday and is well fancied to go close again. However, he’s off a 6lbs higher mark in the 2025 race, so will have his work cut out to land the double. An impressive winner at Cheltenham last month, Ma Shantou will be looking to continue his progression with victory for Emma Lavelle, whilst Mersey Novices’ Hurdle fifth Horaces Pearl will line up for Fergal O’Brien and is another open for progression. Dan Skelton’s yard have flown out the blocks this season and fresh from Paddy Power Gold Cup glory he will hand Ace Of Spades a run here on the back of an Aintree win, while Joyeux Machin is another shot fired by the Skelton gun and is of notable interest.

Betfair Stayers’ Handicap Hurdle Tips
A runner-up at Cheltenham last time out on his first start of the season, NAVAJO INDY looks to have a superb chance of landing this prize for Tom Symonds. Upped 3lbs for that second to French Ship, the six-year-old could still be hugely progressive over hurdles and he can get the better of Ma Shantou, who was too eye-catching last time out when winning and has to be considered. Ace Of Spades looks the best of the Skelton runners here and can pick up third place in what should be a crackerjack.
