Four meetings take place on an unusually busy Sunday in British racing. There is ITV Racing action too, for those kicking back through the afternoon.
GG tipster Joe Napier has our Sunday lucky 15 tips to see out the week. HIs selections run at the ITV meetings at Beverley and Goodwood.
Beverley Racing Tips (Sunday 30 August)
The Listed Beverley Bullet Stakes is the feature in Yorkshire on Sunday. One of our two lucky 15 tips at Beverley on Sunday runs in that contest too.
1.40 Beverley – Bay Of Myths (1pt win – 12/1)
More or less every runner has a check against their name, so it is worth siding with the runner with the most upside. That is Bay Of Myths, who is inexperienced, but could rank higher than this level. Dr Richard Newland’s runner won well on debut at Chelmsford in March. That form has not worked out well, but his Redcar race subsequently was a strong novice. He was only third of four, but was carrying a 7lb penalty behind winner who is now rated 95 and was third in the Chester Vase. Bay Of Myths travelled a lot better than the bare result of a seven-length deficit. Rated 79 for his handicap debut, there could easily prove to be leeway for him.
2.15 Beverley – Jm Jungle (1pt win – 10/3)
The class act in the Beverley Bullet is Jm Jungle. The six-year-old has not raced at Beverley since his juvenile days. However, it is not course form, but his overall profile which recommends him. He earned Group 2 honours at Glorious Goodwood last term and has again shown up well in good compound this season. His best run came last time out when seventh in the Nunthorpe Stakes from the wrong side of the track. He was less than three lengths behind the very useful winner that day and this race is nothing like as strong. If he breaks well form stall nine, he can prove too difficult to catch.
Goodwood Racing Tips (Sunday 30 August)
Goodwood continue their Group race weekend, with the Prestige Fillies’ Stakes their headline race on Sunday. We have a tip in that race, and one other on the card.
3.10 Goodwood – Light Of Dawn (1pt win – 5/1)
Easily the best piece of form on offer here is Light Of Dawn’s third in Royal Ascot’s Albany Stakes. The Wathnan Racing filly won on debut at Carlisle, then ran a belter when third behind Libertango and Sun Goddess at the royal meeting. Given what those fillies have achieved since, that is extremely high class form. Light Of Dawn did best of those on the pace that day. The reason she is not a clear favourite is because she disappointed as favourite at Deauville earlier in August. However, one bad run can be forgiven, especially on her travels. Returning to home shores, she should be the market leader.
3.45 Goodwood – Gloryous (1pt win – 4/1)
This is an unusual selling stakes given there are some half decent horses running. The majority are not in great form, hence their sales status, but Gloryous won last time out off a mark of 80, the highest rating in this race. That victory only came four days ago. It may prove wise to keep striking while the iron is hot though, especially for her potential price tag. She states further than this 1m3f trip, but that stamina may come in handy against a number of rivals unproven over as far.
