13:40 – Easter Maiden Fillies’ Stakes (GBB Race)
Race Details: 1m | Class 4 | Going: GOOD | | flat
This doesn’t look a deep maiden on paper, but it does revolve around two fillies with notably stronger juvenile form than the rest. Celestra and Thankfully both bring lofty ratings of 92, and between them they set a clear standard after a pair of runner-up efforts and some solid placed form in novice company. The rest are either more exposed at a lower level or untried, with Sierra Sue the interesting newcomer in that second wave. Beverley’s mile can catch a few out if they don’t travel or handle the track, so professionalism matters, and that is where the principals have a big edge. If one of the market leaders improves as expected from two to three, this should go their way, but there is enough uncertainty underneath to make the place market more interesting than the win market.
Top Selections
1. Celestra – 10/11 with Bet365
Jockey: Daniel Tudhope | Trainer: John & Thady Gosden | Form: 22- | Rating: 92 | Topspeed: 58
Celestra is the obvious one, but sometimes the obvious answer is the right one. She signed off her juvenile campaign with back-to-back second places, and that 92 rating gives her every chance of bossing a race like this if she has trained on. The Gosden yard doesn’t waste many bullets in northern maidens, and the booking of Daniel Tudhope only adds to the confidence. She has already shown she can handle the job professionally, which is more than can be said for some of these lesser-exposed rivals, and over a mile on good ground she looks set up to improve again. Odds-on is never thrilling, but she is hard to oppose on what we know. Bet: WIN
Bet: WIN
2. Sierra Sue – 14/1 with Bet365
Jockey: P J McDonald | Trainer: James Horton | Form: | Rating: | Topspeed:
If you want to play against the obvious pair for a bit of value, Sierra Sue is the one that makes most appeal. She lacks racecourse evidence, so there is a leap of faith involved, but this isn’t a vintage maiden beyond the front two and James Horton can ready one first time. P J McDonald is a positive booking around Beverley, where experience and track craft count for plenty, and 14/1 feels fair in a race where several exposed fillies have already shown their limitations. She doesn’t need to be a star to run into the frame here; she just needs to know her job and have a bit of ability. As an each-way punt against the more obvious exposed alternatives, she looks the value angle. Bet: EACH-WAY
Bet: EACH-WAY
Betting Strategy
Celestra is the win play and the one with the clearest form edge in the field. If you want a second angle, Sierra Sue is the each-way option at a price in a race that quickly thins out beyond the market leaders. Thankfully is the obvious danger, especially on ratings, but at the prices Celestra looks the stronger win proposition.

14:15 – Ire-Incentive, It Pays To Buy Irish EBF Fillies’ Restricted Novice Stakes (GBB/IRE Inc’) (Div I)
Race Details: 5f | Class 5 | Going: GOOD | | flat
This is the sort of early-season 2yo novice that can make fools of plenty, because almost the entire field arrives unraced and the market has had to do most of the heavy lifting. Even so, a few stables jump off the page. K R Burke’s Bluestone Lady is the obvious starting point and it would be no surprise if she proves sharper than most over this bare 5f. Richard Hannon’s Donna Rumma also makes appeal on paper, while George Scott’s Tango Hotel has a useful low draw in stall 1 if she’s quick into stride. Tim Easterby runs three, which muddies the local picture rather than clarifies it. All told, this looks more tricky than strong, but the market leaders are there for a reason.
Top Selections
1. Bluestone Lady – 11/4 with Bet365
Jockey: Sam James | Trainer: K R Burke | Form: | Rating: | Topspeed:
Bluestone Lady is the one I want on side. Burke is no stranger to ready-made juveniles and when his newcomers are prominent in the betting in these northern fillies’ races, it usually pays to take the hint seriously. She gets in with 125lb rather than 128lb, has a handy low draw in stall 2 and looks the most likely filly to cope with Beverley’s sharp 5f straight from day one. At 11/4 she is not exactly hiding, but nor does she look badly priced in a race full of guesswork. If she breaks on terms, she should be right there from the outset. Bet: WIN
2. Donna Rumma – 11/2 with Paddy Power
Jockey: Alec Voikhansky | Trainer: Richard Hannon | Form: | Rating: | Topspeed:
Donna Rumma makes plenty of each-way appeal at the prices. Hannon can certainly ready one first time, and in a race where several yards may just be looking for experience, his filly appeals as one likely to know her job. Stall 6 is perfectly workable and 11/2 looks fair in a contest where there is no established form to separate the principals. She doesn’t need to improve on anything public because there is nothing public to improve on; this is all about stable intent and likely professionalism. For that reason, she strikes me as the sounder each-way punt than some of the more speculative double-figure prices. Bet: EACH-WAY
Betting Strategy
Keep it simple: Bluestone Lady is the win play in a race where a sharp, well-tuned debutante could just boss matters. Donna Rumma is the each-way alternative with three places on offer and looks solid enough to hit the frame if the favourite is as good as expected. The obvious dangers are Tango Hotel from stall 1 and any market support for Princesse D’Orange late on.

14:50 – Ire-Incentive, It Pays To Buy Irish EBF Fillies’ Restricted Novice Stakes (GBB/IRE Inc’) (Div II)
Race Details: 5f | Class 5 | Going: GOOD | | flat
This looks the stronger of the two obvious form angles rather than a deep race full of substance. Bayside is the only filly here with a run under her belt and that third gives her a very solid platform in a contest where most rivals are completely unexposed. Lady Blanche heads the market for Karl Burke and that stable knows the time of day with early juveniles, so she is the one bringing the most obvious threat among the newcomers. After that, it becomes much trickier, with Pageant Girl and Bellatina the types the market suggests could know their job first time. Beverley’s sharp 5f can catch inexperienced youngsters out, so raw speed matters, but so does professionalism. That makes this a race where experience could count for plenty.
Top Selections
1. Bayside – 15/8 with Bet365
Jockey: Lewis Edmunds | Trainer: Rod Millman | Form: 3 | Rating: 76 | Topspeed: 45
Bayside sets the standard because she has already shown she can do it on the track, and in these early-season juvenile races that is often half the battle. Her debut third has substance in the context of this field, and an official mark of 76 leaves her clear of anything else on published figures. Rod Millman’s youngsters are usually straightforward and sharp enough for 5f, and this filly should come on for that first outing mentally as much as physically. At 15/8 she is not exactly hiding from the market, but she still makes plenty of appeal because she brings the one thing most of these don’t: proven racecourse experience. Bet: WIN
2. Pageant Girl – 15/2 with Bet365
Jockey: Sam James | Trainer: James Owen | Form: | Rating: | Topspeed:
If you want to play against the obvious one, Pageant Girl makes more appeal than some of the shorter-priced debutantes. James Owen has made a bright impression in a short space of time and Sam James is a sensible booking around a track where getting organised early matters. The inside draw in stall 2 should be no bad thing for a youngster making her first start over Beverley’s sharp minimum trip, and 15/2 feels fair in a race where plenty of the newcomers are priced on stable reputation rather than hard evidence. She does not need to be a star to hit the frame, and she looks the each-way alternative to the principals. Bet: EACH-WAY
Betting Strategy
Bayside is the percentage call and the win bet, simply because she has already shown useful form and sets the only clear standard. Pageant Girl is the each-way punt at a more workable price, especially with her low draw. Lady Blanche is the obvious danger if market confidence around the Burke filly proves well placed, while Bellatina is another newcomer worth respecting.

15:25 – Beverley Beaker Handicap
Race Details: 5f | Class 3 | Going: GOOD | | flat
This is a sharp little sprint and not one for the faint-hearted. Corolla Point heads the market after ending last season with back-to-back wins and, on the bare figures, he sets the standard off a lofty mark of 107. The question is whether he’s quite as bombproof as the betting suggests in a race packed with hardened Beverley-style dashers. Air Force One has the pace and the Topspeed figure to make a serious nuisance of himself from stall 2, while Smart Vision is another drawn low who could get involved if the rail is an advantage. Sports Coach is unexposed enough to think there may still be a bit more in the tank, and that makes him appealing in a race where the favourite doesn’t look unbeatable. Tricky, but a good Class 3.
Top Selections
1. Sports Coach – 7/1 with Bet365
Jockey: Cam Hardie | Trainer: Antony Brittain | Form: 03-215 | Rating: 107 | Topspeed: 94
He appeals as the one at a workable price in a race where plenty have chances but not many are obviously ahead of their marks. Sports Coach won two starts back and then ran perfectly respectably in fifth, shaping as though this return to a bare 5f could sharpen him up. He’s now only carrying 123 despite matching the favourite on official rating, which catches the eye straight away. Cam Hardie knows him well enough, and Antony Brittain’s sprinters can be dangerous when they hit form early in the year. At 7/1, he looks the value play against a short-priced market leader. Bet: WIN
Bet: WIN
2. Air Force One – 5/1 with Bet365
Jockey: P J McDonald | Trainer: Geoff Oldroyd | Form: 3206-5 | Rating: 103 | Topspeed: 99
Air Force One makes plenty of each-way appeal because he has the profile of a horse who can sit handy, travel strongly and keep finding in a race that should be run at a proper clip. His Topspeed figure of 99 is one of the best in the field, and that matters in a furious 5f handicap around Beverley where raw pace is often the difference. His recent fifth doesn’t scream winner, but it was a fair reappearance and he should strip fitter for it. Drawn in 2, he has every chance of getting the run of the race, and 5/1 is fair enough for a horse with solid place credentials and more than a squeak of winning. Bet: EACH-WAY
Bet: EACH-WAY
Betting Strategy
Sports Coach is the win bet at a price that underestimates his chance given the weight pull with the market leader. Air Force One is the each-way option, with his pace, draw and strong Topspeed making him a reliable-looking play for the frame. Corolla Point is the obvious danger if he returns in the same groove as last autumn, while Smart Vision could outrun his odds from stall 1.

16:00 – 140th Year Of The Watt Memorial Handicap (GBBPlus Race)
Race Details: 2m | Class 3 | Going: GOOD | | flat
This may only have five runners, but it revolves around a fairly obvious focal point in Anniversary, who sets the standard on both ratings and profile. Ralph Beckett’s 4-year-old is the only unexposed stayer in the line-up and his mark of 101 gives him a narrow edge over Sax Appeal, who is solid enough but hardly arrives with much momentum. Charging Thunder has become hard to trust on recent evidence, while veteran Elysian Flame looks vulnerable against younger legs despite a workable mark. Wahraan is dangerously well handicapped on old ability but has not been shaping like a likely winner. In truth, it’s not a deep Class 3 and the market has probably got this about right: if Anniversary stays this trip well enough, he should be taking it.
Top Selections
1. Anniversary – 4/5 with Bet365
Jockey: Edward Greatrex | Trainer: Ralph Beckett | Form: /85-55 | Rating: 101 | Topspeed: 81
He is short, but with good reason. Anniversary is the one runner in this field who still looks open to better as a stayer, and a mark of 101 already puts him at the head of affairs. His two runs this year, both ending in fifth, are not as underwhelming as they first read in a race of this depth, and this smaller field could suit if Edward Greatrex is allowed to get him settled and rolling. Beckett does well with these staying handicappers, and against older rivals who look exposed, this 4-year-old has the most persuasive upside. At 4/5 he is no giveaway, but he is still hard to oppose. Bet type tag: WIN.
Bet: WIN
Betting Strategy
Keep it simple in a five-runner race: Anniversary is the win bet and the only one worth siding with. Each-way betting makes little appeal in a field this small. Sax Appeal is the obvious danger if the favourite underperforms, while Wahraan is the wild card on old numbers, but this really looks Anniversary’s race to lose.

16:35 – Diony Dash Handicap
Race Details: 7f | Class 5 | Going: GOOD | | flat
This is a proper spring 3yo handicap: compressed ratings, unexposed types and plenty with plausible excuses or upside. Reliable Ricki is a non-runner, but it still leaves a deep enough field where the market could easily shift late. Stay Salty and Cosmic Man head the betting and both make obvious appeal, while Sandy Craic brings solid juvenile form for a yard that often does well with this type. Lyrical Song and Ubetterseethis look the more interesting each-way angles in a race where draw and track position may matter. Beverley over 7f can punish the hesitant, so a horse able to hold a handy spot and see it out strongly should be favoured. It’s not a strong race in absolute terms, but it is a tricky little handicap with depth.
Top Selections
1. Sandy Craic – 9/2 with Bet365
Jockey: Daniel Tudhope | Trainer: David O’Meara | Form: 542- | Rating: 78 | Topspeed: 63
Sandy Craic looks the percentage call. He shaped with promise in three runs at two, improving with racing and ending his campaign with a fair second on the figures shown here. An opening mark of 78 looks workable rather than lenient, but in a race full of similar types I prefer one who has already hinted he’ll cope with a handicap and who comes from a yard very capable of placing these youngsters to good effect. Daniel Tudhope is another positive at this track. At 9/2 he isn’t exactly under the radar, but he still makes plenty of appeal as the one most likely to be finishing his race off properly. Bet: WIN
2. Lyrical Song – 8/1 with Betfair
Jockey: David Allan | Trainer: Tim Easterby | Form: 56322- | Rating: 79 | Topspeed: 72
Lyrical Song appeals as the value each-way play. He was admirably consistent at two, signing off with back-to-back seconds and posting a useful Topspeed figure of 72, which stacks up well in this line-up. The slight concern is the wide draw in 12, but he has enough tactical pace in his profile to think he won’t be completely marooned if getting away on terms. Tim Easterby’s horses often know their job around these northern tracks, and David Allan is a jockey you want on side in a race where positioning will be crucial. Available at 8/1, he looks overpriced for one with such a solid, repeatable level of form. Bet: EACH-WAY
Betting Strategy
Sandy Craic is the win play in a race where a few of the principals are more about promise than substance. Lyrical Song is the sensible each-way alternative at 8/1, especially with four places on offer. The obvious dangers are Stay Salty, who could be better than this opening mark, and Cosmic Man, whose low draw and fair market position make him hard to dismiss.

17:10 – Spillers Powering Your Winners Fillies’ Handicap
Race Details: 1m | Class 5 | Going: GOOD | | flat
This looks a workable Class 5 rather than a deep one, but it is still the sort of mile handicap where small details will matter. Holly Mist brings the most obvious current form after a string of placed efforts and it would be no surprise if Roger Varian’s filly finally got her head back in front. Wondrous Light and Catton Lady are credible dangers on their better 2025 form, while Glorious Kitty is interesting from stall 1 if bouncing back from a lesser effort. There are also a few lively outsiders lurking lower in the weights, notably Quirke On Parole and the old rogue Dandy’s Angel. All told, this is a slightly tricky puzzle rather than a penalty kick, with draw, pace and who handles Beverley’s demands best likely to decide it.
Top Selections
1. Holly Mist – 5/2 with Bet365
Jockey: Ray Dawson | Trainer: Roger Varian | Form: 3-233 | Rating: 81 | Topspeed: 30
She is the solid one in the race and, in a contest lacking much obvious upside elsewhere, that counts for plenty. Holly Mist has been knocking on the door with figures of 3-233, and while she is not hiding from the assessor off 81, she has at least shown a reliable level of form that most of these cannot match. Varian’s runners in races like this tend to be found out by the market if they are badly fancied, so the fact she heads it at around 5/2 makes sense. Drawn 8 is not ideal at Beverley, but if Dawson can get her into a handy rhythm, she looks the one with the strongest overall claims. Bet: WIN
Bet: WIN
2. Quirke On Parole – 12/1 with Paddy Power
Jockey: Rhys Elliott | Trainer: Mark Walford | Form: 21257- | Rating: 81 | Topspeed: 76
At the prices, Quirke On Parole is the one that makes some each-way appeal. She ended last season with a couple of lesser efforts, but the earlier part of that form reads well enough for this grade and her mark of 81 is perfectly workable, especially with just 120 to carry. Stall 2 looks a plus around here, and her Topspeed figure of 76 says she has the raw pace to be competitive if returning in the same nick. Walford’s filly does not have the same polished profile as Holly Mist, but 12/1 feels bigger than it should be in a race where several near the top of the market have questions to answer. Bet: EACH-WAY
Bet: EACH-WAY
Betting Strategy
Holly Mist is the win play because she brings the most convincing recent profile and sets the standard on consistency. For an each-way punt, Quirke On Parole looks the value from a good low draw with a light weight. The obvious dangers are Wondrous Light, who has the figures to go well fresh, and Glorious Kitty, who could outrun her price if the inside stall proves an advantage.

17:45 – Racing Again Next Thursday Handicap
Race Details: 1m 4f | Class 6 | Going: GOOD | | flat
This is a typically knotty Beverley staying handicap to close the card, and there are a few with perfectly respectable claims without any of them looking bombproof. Highfield Comrade arrives in the best current nick after a string of placed efforts, while Havachoc has been admirably consistent and should give another honest account. Arth’s Gold is edging towards a win after a solid second last time, and Freddy Robinson has enough old form to make him dangerous if building on his reappearance. The shape of the race looks likely to favour something tactically handy that sees out the trip well on this good ground, and in a Class 6 like this I’d rather side with recent reliability than chase too many far-fetched revivals. Tricky, yes, but not impossible.
Top Selections
1. Highfield Comrade – 9/2 with Bet365
Jockey: P J McDonald | Trainer: John & Sean Quinn | Form: 4-1333 | Rating: 71 | Topspeed: 57
He’s the one I keep coming back to. Highfield Comrade hasn’t been hiding anything from the handicapper, but three straight thirds suggest he’s knocking hard on the door and this isn’t a deeper race than those recent assignments. The wide draw in 12 is not ideal around Beverley, yet he’s a 4yo who still looks more likely to find a little extra than plenty of these exposed rivals. P J McDonald is the sort you want in a race that could turn tactical, and 9/2 is fair rather than flashy for a horse bringing the most dependable current profile. He holds strong claims of finally getting his head in front.
Bet: WIN
2. Sea Master – 10/1 with Bet365
Jockey: Joanna Mason | Trainer: Ruth Carr | Form: 24267- | Rating: 71 | Topspeed: 70
Sea Master is the each-way angle at the prices. He returns from a break, so there is a small leap of faith involved, but his profile reads better than a double-figure quote in a modest Class 6. That Topspeed figure of 70 stands out in this field, and his form last season included enough competitive efforts to suggest he can be involved off this mark. Ruth Carr’s runners often know their job in these northern handicaps, and Joanna Mason is a positive booking if he can get into a decent rhythm from stall 8. At 10/1, he looks the value each-way punt in a race where plenty have questions to answer.
Bet: EACH-WAY
Betting Strategy
Highfield Comrade is the straight win play because he’s the solid, progressive-enough option in a race full of ifs and buts. Sea Master makes more appeal as the each-way alternative, especially with four places on offer and a price that looks a touch too big. Havachoc and Arth’s Gold are the obvious dangers if reproducing their recent consistency.
