Beverley & Tramore Racing Tips - Andrew Mount's Best Bets for Thursday 13 August

Andrew Mount focuses his attention on two horse racing fixtures on Thursday 13th August, as he heads to Beverley and Tramore for his best bets of the day. Check out Andrew’s selections below on a busy day’s racing.

Beverley Racing Tips (Thursday 13 August 2026)

A six-race card takes place at Beverley, with a 2.15pm start. Andrew has two picks for the sprint contest at 3.45pm.

3.45 Beverley – Opal Storm (0.5pt e/w – 14.1 bet365, 12/1 generally, four places) & Good Earth (0.5pt e/w – 16/1 generally, four places)

This 5f handicap looks set to be run at a strong pace and that could play into the hands of veterans Opal Storm and Good Earth, both who will be familiar to long-term readers of this column.

Opal Storm is a course expert who returned to winning way on her penultimate start and had excuses when only eighth here last time (hampered). Her combined record on stiff tracks Beverley and Carlisle when returned to the track within four weeks of her previous start now reads 91414514418 (4-11) for a profit of £92.25 to a £1 level stake at SP.

Good Earth, like Opal Storm, also has a good record on stiff tracks and was a small each-way bet for this column when an 11-1 fourth in a 5f handicap at Sandown on his penultimate outing. He followed that with another 5f runner-up effort (Newmarket) and has had excuses over 6f since, finishing down the field from a poor draw in Class 4 company at York and failing to see out a stiff 6f back at Newmarket. He’s best in turf handicap company after a recent outing (20 days or sooner) and in Class 3 or lower company, winning 12 of his 38 starts under these conditions for a profit of £46.20 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected wins = 5.39, A/E = 2.23). In Class 5 (today’s grade) or lower company his record becomes 311413112125 (6-12) suggest each-way claims despite his high draw.

Tramore Racing Tips (Thursday 13 August 2026)

There’s a seven-race card at Tramore over the sticks, with a 5.11pm start. You have to wait until the 7.18pm race for Andrew’s best bet on the card.

7.18 Tramore – Lureka Du Noyer (1pt win – 9/2 generally)

Lureka Du Noyer out in a strong performance at Limerick in late May on his debut for Henry De Bromhead, scoring by five and a half lengths. That form has been boosted by two subsequent wins from third-placed Luker’s Tipple and while Lureka Du Noyer was beaten at Ballinrobe next time, he had excuses. The five-year-old son of Doctor Dino raced in the ‘swamp’ on the inside rail when two and a half lengths behind Manor De Morando, who raced widest of the market principals. He’ll likely go over fences soon – he had several runs over the larger obstacles in France – but the step back up to 2m4f will suit and this rated novice hurdle looks a realistic assignment.
