There are five horse racing fixtures taking place on Wednesday 9th September. Steve Chambers focuses his attentions on a brace of flat meetings at Carlisle and Redcar, where he picks out four selections to make up a GG Lucky 15.
Carlisle Tips (Wednesday 9th September 2026)
It’s a seven-race card at Carlisle on Wednesday, with the action kicking off at 2.12pm. We have two selections across the afternoon.
3.47 Carlisle – Cotai Starlight (1pt win – 11/2)
Katie Scott’s Cotai Starlight was just edged out by Royal Duke last month at Carlisle, and the pair do battle once again in the 3.47pm contest. Beaten a head that day, Scott’s charge can duly reverse that form, as the daughter of Cotai Glory is better off at the weights this time around. A pretty consistent performer, the three-year-old has shown she can act at the track and with conditions to suit then she can go one better than last time and get her head in front.
4.17 Carlisle – Run This Way (1pt win – 6/1)
A multiple winner over six furlongs, Paul Midgley’s Run This Way can record an eighth career victory in the 4.17pm. Third on his last two outings off a mark of 58, he’s shown a real high level of consistency, albeit over a low level, but he could well be capable of going in again. He showed when notching back-to-back wins at Thirsk and Redcar that he has the capabilities of getting his head in front and this event looks pretty winnable, and he can land the prize.
Redcar Tips (Wednesday 9th September 2026)
There’s a whopping eight races coming from Redcar on Wednesday, with a 1.21pm start. Check below for the best two bets on the card to complete the GG Lucky 15.
2.51 Redcar – Yafreh (1pt win – 10/1)
Winless in five starts, Yafreh has yet to show his true potential on the track, but the son of Frankel can record a first career win in the 2.51pm at Redcar. He really disappointed last time out at Ripon, where he finished last of seven. However, prior to that he notched up a brace of second placed finishes at Thirsk at Hamilton, and a repeat of those efforts should see him play a starring role here. One of those seconds came in handicap company, so it could just be Ripon didn’t suit and a switch to a new track can see him bounce back at Redcar.
3.54 Redcar – Sweet Kiss (1pt win – 3/1)
Tim Easterby’s Sweet Kiss was narrowly denied on her last outing at Redcar, but a return to the same track on Wednesday should see her go one better. She was only beaten a nose that day, so has to be capable of going close again. She’s been given a 2lbs rise for that effort, which is more than fair, so a mark of 61 looks workable. Only 3lbs higher than her last winning mark, she takes her chance here and looks to be well fancied to land the money.
