Catterick Racing Tips (Tuesday 24 February 2026)
There’s only six races at Catterick on Tuesday with the action getting under way at 2pm. Andrew Mount heads to the 3.30pm contest for his best bet on the card.
3.30 Catterick – Bathgate (1pt win – 3/1 generally)
Medieval Gold heads the betting for this 2m3.5f handicap hurdle on the strength of his stable debut third to Haarar at Carlisle last time but that race hasn’t worked out well, with the winner beaten by 31 lengths when 10-11 favourite next time and the fifth and sixth also suffering defeats (7L 3-1 second of four and 34L 9-1 last of nine). I’d rather side with course expert Bathgate, who took his Catterick figures to 1211 (3-4) when going clear over this trip last time. Phil Kirby’s six-year-old has been shoved up 7lb for that victory but should still be competitive.
Leicester Racing Tips (Tuesday 24 February 2026)
Leicester also hold a six-race jumps card this afternoon and you have to wait until the 3.50pm handicap chase for Andrew’s selection.
3.50 Leicester – Xcitations (1pt win – 3/1 generally)
Pam Sly has a fine record at Leicester, scoring with 29 of her 191 runners this century (15.2% strike-rate) for a profit of £142.63 to a £1 level stake at SP (+£356.20 at Betfair SP after 2% commission) and her Xcitations, one from one here, is worth chancing despite pulling up at Uttoxeter on last month’s belated return to action.
Regular readers will know that I’m fond of backing him once he’s made his seasonal debut, as he won at the second and/or third time of asking in 2020/21 (third time out), 2021/22 (third time out), 2022/23 (second and third time out) and 2023/24 (second time out). He drew a blank on his second/third starts last term, though did win at 9-2 in a four-runner line-up on his fourth run of the season. He’s clearly happiest on stiff right-handed tracks such as this (he’s a triple Sandown winner) and he’s 3lb below his last winning mark.
