Catterick Racing Tips (Wednesday 22 July)
Six races take place at Catterick on good-to-firm ground on Wednesday. We have two tips in the middle of the card.
2.37 Catterick – Hamdani Mokhater (1pt win – 11/4)
After three uneventful runs, Hamdani Mokhater went off favourite for his nursery debut at Leicester last week. James Horton’s runner had been gelded between his final maiden start and that handicap effort. It clearly had an effect, as the son of Mohaather finished second of ten off a mark of 60. The winner had scored previously with greater experience, so it was a promising run. This race arrives before his handicap mark goes up 4lb, meaning he is well-in. With a handicap run now under his belt, and in a much smaller field, he should be right on the premises.
3.42 Catterick – Sound Gloria (1pt win – 13/8)
Roger Varian’s Sound Gloria is bred to stay all day and may come into her own here. The daughter of Nathaniel raced in three novice and maiden events over 1m, failing to feature. However, as well as having a middle distance sire, his damsire is Derby hero Workforce, who has primarily become a jumps sire. As such, 1m was always going to be too short, though she showed ability on handicap debut over 1m2f. She finished third over 1m2f, beaten only two lengths and seeing the race out strongly. She faces a further two furlongs here, with 1m4f likely to suit a lot better before she potentially races over even longer trips. For now, this assignment off a mark of 52 looks ideal for her to gain a first win.
Lingfield Racing Tips (Wednesday 22 July)
Heading into the evening’s racing, Lingfield’s card is on the turf track on Wednesday. We have two tips, including one in the finale.
7.10 Lingfield – Romidjio (1pt win – 5/2)
With Billy Loughnane chasing a jockeys’ title, Charlie Clover may have called him up at the right time aboard Romidjio. Three of the horses she lost to before entering handicaps have gone on to be very useful. She must have shown something at home, running in the Woodcote Stakes at Epsom in June. Since then, she has raced in her first nursery, finishing second at Chepstow over 6f off a rating of 65. The handicapper has been generous in easing her 1lb, while the daughter of Ardad drops to 5f here. That should be ideal for her in this company.
8.40 Lingfield – Oh So Audacious (1pt win – 11/4)
Oh So Audacious has mostly plied her trade at Brighton, winning four times. However, she has form elsewhere and in a classified race won by her trainer last year, she can win here at Lingfield. She has raced only twice since joining Jones in May. She was down the field at Leicester before running a much better race back on the south coast. She was fourth off a mark of 51, but now qualifies for classified company with a rating of 50. Any horse who has been competitive in handicaps off marks in the 50s should do well at this level.
