Three meetings take place to open the racing week on Monday. There should be something for all racing punters, with two jumps cards and one on the all-weather.
Andrew Mount is certainly taking an all-round approach to his best bets on Monday. He has one top tip from each of Catterick, Plumpton & Wolverhampton for you to follow.
Catterick Racing Tips (Monday 9 February 2026)
Catterick hosts a six-race card on Monday, with Andrew’s top tip running in the mares’ handicap chase.
2.30 Catterick – Overabottleofred (1pt win – 10/3 generally)
Robbie Dunne has a solid record when riding in staying handicap chases (distances of three miles or further), scoring on 52 of his 385 mounts since racing resumed after lockdown in June 2020 for a profit of £50.43 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 42.94, A/E = 1.21). He takes the ride on Tom Gretton’s Overabottleofred, who would have needed last month’s comeback outing when fourth over an inadequate 2m5f trip at Fakenham. She signed off last season with a 21-length victory at Huntingdon, despite jumping out to her left on the right-handed track, and today’s conditions look ideal.
Plumpton Racing Tips (Monday 9 February 2026)
Andrew’s tip at Plumpton will attempt to defy a big weight in a class 4 handicap among the seven-race card.
3.45 Plumpton – Activist (1pt win – 14/1 Paddy Power)
There’s plenty of early pace in this 2m4.5f handicap hurdle, not least from Inferno Sacre, caught on the line at Catterick on her latest start, and Our Papa Smurf, who made all over the 2m trip here a fortnight ago. Bongo Man and Macari are also likely to be up there from the outset, and the bet has to be Activist, despite his poor effort at Fontwell last month. David Pipe’s seven-year-old, backed from double-figure prices into 4-1 favouritism, pulled up that day but tends to come good at about this time of year – he has form figures in February/March of 211P51 (3-6) – and his sole course outing saw him score by five lengths from Macari back in February 2024.
Wolverhampton Racing Tips (Monday 9 February 2026)
There are a whopping nine races to enjoy at Wolverhampton’s evening meeting. Andrew’s best bet runs in race seven on the card.
7.00 Wolverhampton – Beauzon (1pt win – 2/1 bet365)
Pace angle Beauzon has a cracking record at this time of year, recording form figures in January and early February of 1193111177311 (8-13) for a profit of £28.83 to a £1 level stake at SP. Ian Williams’ seven-year-old looks set to receive an easy lead in this 6f classified contest and can confirm recent course and distance form with She Went Whoosh.
