14:10 – Download The Raceday Ready App Apprentice Handicap
Race Details: 5f | Class 6 | Going: GOOD TO SOFT | | flat
This has the look of a fairly ordinary little sprint, but not an impossible one to unravel. Yachtsman arrives off the back of a breakthrough win and is the obvious starting point now the non-runner has trimmed the field, while The Tunguska Event also comes here in good order after a win and a solid second. Taaklam has been knocking on the door without quite getting his head in front and looks the one most likely to make the market leaders work. The ground is an angle in a race like this over a sharp 5f, and in a small field positioning will matter plenty. It is not a deep Class 6 by any means, but the front end of the market does make some appeal.
Top Selections
1. Yachtsman – 6/5 with William Hill
Jockey: Harry Vigors | Trainer: Jack Morland | Form: 5-3471 | Rating: 66 | Topspeed: 59
Yachtsman is hard to oppose after finally getting the job done last time and doing so with the best recent topspeed figure in the field. His form has been heading the right way for a while, and that latest 1 suggests the penny has dropped now handicapping. An opening mark of 66 looks fair rather than harsh, and from stall 2 he should be able to sit handy in a race lacking depth. Harry Vigors does not need to be overly cute here; if this colt breaks on terms, he has the profile of a progressive sort in a weak sprint. At 6/5 he is no giveaway, but he still holds the strongest claims.
Bet: WIN
2. Taaklam – 5/2 with Bet365
Jockey: Ethan Tindall | Trainer: Harriet Bethell | Form: 853-32 | Rating: 66 | Topspeed:
Taaklam is the one I would want on side for an each-way punt because he keeps running to a level that should put him right in the mix again. Those last two efforts, finishing third and then second, read well enough for this grade, and he does not have much to find on official figures with the favourite. The slight concern is stall 6 in a small-field dash at Catterick, where you can get caught wide or posted early, but Ethan Tindall will know he needs to be positive. Available at 5/2, he is not massively priced, though in a six-runner race he still makes more appeal than the rest as the solid alternative.
Bet: EACH-WAY
Betting Strategy
Yachtsman is the straight win play and looks the likeliest winner if backing up his latest success. Taaklam is the each-way option simply because he is the most reliable of the remainder and should give you a run for your money. The Tunguska Event is the obvious danger after his recent 1-2 sequence, while Lanarra is the outsider with a feather weight if returning ready enough.

14:40 – Every Race Live On Racing TV Maiden Fillies’ Stakes (GBB Race)
Race Details: 5f | Class 4 | Going: GOOD TO SOFT | | flat
This does not look the deepest maiden on the card and, on what they’ve shown so far, it really ought to revolve around Rouane and Got The Booty. Andrew Balding’s filly sets the standard on ratings after a solid pair of juvenile runs, while Tom Ward’s runner has at least been busy and arrives with the benefit of a recent outing. The rest have something to find. Lady Gormire showed a bit in two starts last year and could step forward, but she lacks the obvious upside of the principals, while Why Because is the exposed older filly in the line-up. In a six-runner race there are only two places on offer, so it is a small-field puzzle in theory, but the favourite is pretty hard to knock in practice.
Top Selections
1. Rouane – 4/9 with Betfair
Jockey: Silvestre De Sousa | Trainer: Andrew Balding | Form: 32- | Rating: 78 | Topspeed: 68
Rouane is the obvious one, but sometimes obvious is the right answer. She shaped with plenty of promise in two runs at two, finishing third and then second, and that 78 rating gives her a clear edge in this field. Balding does well placing these lightly-raced fillies and the booking of Silvestre De Sousa only underlines intent. The slight question is the return from a break on good to soft over a sharp 5f, but she has already shown enough pace to suggest this won’t catch her out. At 4/9 she is no great secret, yet she still looks the most likely winner by some margin. Bet: WIN
Bet: WIN
2. Lady Gormire – 12/1 with Paddy Power
Jockey: Sean Kirrane | Trainer: Michael Dods | Form: 28- | Rating: 63 | Topspeed: 47
For an each-way angle, Lady Gormire makes more appeal than the market suggests. She was beaten a long way on debut but took a clear step forward when runner-up on her second start, and that gives her at least some substance in a race where several are either exposed or have shown very little. Michael Dods can ready one after a break and, from stall 1, she should be able to hold a handy position if sharp enough. She does need to bridge a fair gap on official figures with Rouane, but 12/1 looks a fair each-way punt in a small race lacking depth behind the favourite. Bet: EACH-WAY
Bet: EACH-WAY
Betting Strategy
Keep it simple: Rouane is the win bet and the one with the standout profile in a modest maiden. If you want something at a price, Lady Gormire is the each-way option for the two places, mainly because she has shown more than most of the outsiders. Got The Booty is the obvious danger if building on her recent fourth, but she looks shorter than ideal.

15:10 – catterickbridge.co.uk Handicap
Race Details: 5f | Class 5 | Going: GOOD TO SOFT | | flat
This is a proper sharp 5f handicap rather than a deep one, and the market has understandably latched on to the pair arriving in form. Safari Dream comes here off a win and still looks well enough treated for a race of this level, while Moostar keeps knocking on the door and has the profile of one ready to strike. Crocodile Power is another with solid recent sprint form and is weighted to be involved, and Fiscal Policy has been running well enough without quite getting his head in front. Ingleby Archie is more of a leap of faith, but the low draw and his old speed figures make him interesting in a race where track position will matter. Tricky enough, but not impossible to solve.
Top Selections
1. Safari Dream – 5/2 with Bet365
Jockey: Jake Dickson | Trainer: Rod Millman | Form: 45-341 | Rating: 84 | Topspeed: 56
Safari Dream is the one I’d want on side. He arrives in the best current nick in the field after that 45-341 sequence, and a mark of 84 still doesn’t look beyond him in this grade. Rod Millman’s sprinters tend to hold their form once they hit a vein, and this 6yo looks tough and straightforward, which counts for plenty in these Catterick dashes. He’s not thrown in, but neither is he badly treated, and the race shape should suit a horse who can travel and go through with it late. At 5/2 he isn’t a giveaway, but he does look the most solid proposition.
Bet: WIN
2. Ingleby Archie – 15/2 with Bet365
Jockey: Jack Nicholls | Trainer: Adrian Nicholls | Form: 3600-4 | Rating: 79 | Topspeed: 87
Ingleby Archie is the each-way play at the prices. His recent form doesn’t scream obvious winner, but that comeback fourth was a step back in the right direction and his Topspeed figure of 87 is the best on offer here by a fair margin. Drawn 1, he could get the run of the race if breaking on terms, and Adrian Nicholls knows exactly what is required around a speed-favouring track like this. He’s not as reliable as the principals, which is why he’s an each-way rather than win bet, but 15/2 looks a touch generous for a horse with his raw pace in an eight-runner Class 5.
Bet: EACH-WAY
Betting Strategy
Safari Dream is the percentage call and makes most appeal as the win bet given his current form and solid profile. Ingleby Archie is the more interesting value angle, especially from stall 1, and makes plenty of sense as an each-way punt with three places on offer. Moostar is the obvious danger, while Crocodile Power also has the form to get involved.

15:40 – Get Raceday Ready Handicap (GBBPlus Race)
Race Details: 1m 4f | Class 4 | Going: GOOD TO SOFT | | flat
This is a small-field handicap but not an especially straightforward one, with four of the five arriving with some sort of case. Nightsinwhitesatin sets the standard on official figures and has been knocking on the door, while Analogical looks the type Sir Mark Prescott can keep improving now he is fully switched on to middle distances. Percy’s Daydream comes here on the back of a win and is hardly dismissed for David O’Meara, and Made All is weighted to be competitive if bouncing back. In a tactical five-runner race, pace and positioning will matter as much as raw ability, and that can make these contests messy. Still, there is a fair chance the answer lies with the younger, progressive profiles rather than the exposed older horse Ludo’s Landing.
Top Selections
1. Analogical – 18/5 with Betfair
Jockey: Poppy Scott | Trainer: Sir Mark Prescott Bt | Form: 5-2213 | Rating: 92 | Topspeed:
Analogical appeals as the one with a bit more upside than most of these. His recent form reads well enough in the context of a race like this, with that 2213 sequence suggesting he has found his level and is still progressing rather than treading water. Prescott’s runners over this sort of trip always command respect, and this four-year-old looks the kind who should keep finding for pressure. A mark of 92 is workable, and from stall 1 he ought to get a handy, economical run in what may turn tactical. At 18/5, he makes more appeal than the shorter-priced favourite. Bet: WIN
Betting Strategy
With only five runners, this is a straight win-bet race and Analogical gets the nod. He looks the value against Nightsinwhitesatin, who is solid but short enough in the market for one who hasn’t been getting his head in front. Percy’s Daydream is the other obvious danger after his latest win, while Made All could outrun his price if getting an easy lead.

16:15 – Free Digital Racecard At raceday-ready.com Handicap
Race Details: 7f | Class 6 | Going: GOOD TO SOFT | | flat
This looks a fairly ordinary 3yo handicap rather than a deep one, and that usually means siding with the runners who arrive here with either a recent win or the strongest piece of handicap form. Musical Soldier heads the market after getting off the mark and is an obvious one to beat from stall 1, while Hood Wink and Trucial Pearl bring solid enough recent efforts to the table in a race where plenty have questions attached. South Coast Star has been knocking on the door without looking totally straightforward, and Hear The Drums has to shrug off a poor reappearance. With 11 runners and only three places on offer each-way, this is no giveaway, but it doesn’t take much imagination to think the race will be decided by whichever of the better-treated, lightly raced types handles the ground best.
Top Selections
1. Musical Soldier – 11/4 with Betfair
Jockey: Callum Rodriguez | Trainer: Ollie Sangster | Form: 5-5671 | Rating: 63 | Topspeed: 21
He is hardly a secret, but there is still a fair bit to like. Musical Soldier got his head in front last time and did it in the style of a horse who is beginning to understand the job, which matters in a race full of exposed or unreliable types. An opening mark of 63 does not look harsh in this grade and the inside draw should help Callum Rodriguez hold a handy position over this trip. Ollie Sangster’s runner has fewer miles on the clock than some of these and, in a modest Class 6, that recent win carries real weight. At 11/4 he is short enough, but still the likeliest winner.
Bet: WIN
2. Trucial Pearl – 11/2 with Bet365
Jockey: Mason Paetel | Trainer: Michael & David Easterby | Form: 442365 | Rating: 60 | Topspeed: 33
Trucial Pearl is not arriving on the back of a sexy profile, but this one makes plenty of each-way appeal in a race of this nature. The form figures show a horse who has been running respectably in handicaps without getting much luck in the finish, and a mark of 60 gives him a realistic chance if he can settle and travel from stall 2. He doesn’t need to improve a stone to get involved here; he just needs to produce one of his better runs. The Easterby yard knows how to place one at this level and 11/2 looks workable for an each-way punt given the weaknesses elsewhere.
Bet: EACH-WAY
Betting Strategy
Musical Soldier is the percentage call and makes most appeal as the win bet, especially with the recent victory suggesting he is moving the right way. For those wanting a bit more juice, Trucial Pearl looks the each-way angle at a fair price. Hood Wink is the obvious danger after a recent win and solid latest fourth, while South Coast Star is another with enough form to feature if putting it all together.

16:50 – Bet At racingtv.com Handicap
Race Details: 7f | Class 6 | Going: GOOD TO SOFT | | flat
This is a fairly ordinary Class 6, but not an easy one to solve because several arrive with bits of recent form and very few can be ruled out completely. Filey Beach is the obvious starting point after getting back on track last time and the market has latched on accordingly, while Saisons D’or comes here off a win and Without Delay shaped as though another race of this nature was well within range. East Tyrone keeps running his race without quite getting his head in front, and Emerald Army has enough ability to make his wide draw interesting rather than terminal. It doesn’t look a deep contest, yet it is the sort where pace, track position and willingness under pressure will matter as much as raw ability. Tricky enough, but the favourite does set the standard.
Top Selections
1. Filey Beach – 15/8 with Betfair
Jockey: James Sullivan | Trainer: Ruth Carr | Form: 00-841 | Rating: 76 | Topspeed: 70
He looks the solid one. Ruth Carr’s 5yo had been knocking around quietly before putting it together with a win last time, and that piece of form is the best recent evidence on offer in this field. He runs here off 76, has a Topspeed of 70, and the draw in stall 2 should allow James Sullivan to get him into a sensible rhythm around this sharp 7f. In a race full of older exposed handicappers and a few unreliable types, he makes plenty of appeal as the runner most likely to back up his latest effort. At 15/8 he is no giveaway, but he is still hard to oppose.
Bet: WIN
2. Without Delay – 7/1 with Bet365
Jockey: Amie Waugh | Trainer: Tracy Waggott | Form: 60-053 | Rating: 75 | Topspeed: 64
Without Delay is the each-way play because she is coming to the boil at the right time and has slipped to a mark where she can be competitive in this grade. That latest third was a step back in the right direction, and from stall 3 she should get a much cleaner run through than some of the wider-drawn rivals. Tracy Waggott’s mare isn’t one to trust blindly, but she has enough back-class for a race like this and 7/1 looks fair in a field where a few of the more obvious alternatives have questions of their own. If she can hold her position early, she has the profile of a sound each-way punt.
Bet: EACH-WAY
Betting Strategy
Filey Beach is the win bet after that recent success, and he makes more appeal than most as one with momentum rather than hope. Without Delay is the each-way alternative at a workable price, especially with three places on offer. The main danger is Saisons D’or, who arrives in winning form, while Emerald Army is another who could outrun his odds if overcoming the draw.

17:27 – Racing Again 30th May Fillies’ Handicap
Race Details: 7f | Class 5 | Going: GOOD TO SOFT | | flat
This has a fairly obvious starting point with Velvet Rhythm, who arrives as the progressive one in the line-up and is now asked to defy a mark of 79 after getting off the mark. She faces a mix of exposed older fillies and lightly raced 3yos, and that age allowance could prove decisive in a race that doesn’t look especially deep for the grade. Amelia’s Joy comes here in winning form as well and is drawn ideally in stall 1, while Blufferonthebus has the best established handicap profile but hasn’t been finishing off races like a winner lately. Homestrait is the one at a bigger price who could nick a place if building on her latest run. It’s not a vintage Class 5, but there is a solid favourite and a few interesting angles underneath.
Top Selections
1. Velvet Rhythm – 6/5 with Bet365
Jockey: Jack Callan | Trainer: Charlie Johnston | Form: 343-1 | Rating: 79 | Topspeed: 50
She’s the most convincing candidate in the race and, short enough though she is, it’s easy to see why the market has latched onto her. Velvet Rhythm had shaped with promise in three runs at two before returning with a win, and that profile suggests there should still be more to come now she’s into handicaps. An opening mark of 79 is hardly a gift, but in a race where several rivals look fairly exposed, the Johnston filly is the one with proper upside. Drawn in 2 and getting plenty of weight from the older horses, she looks hard to oppose. Even at 6/5, she holds strong claims. Bet: WIN
Bet: WIN
2. Homestrait – 9/1 with Paddy Power
Jockey: Ben Robinson | Trainer: Brian Ellison | Form: 07-574 | Rating: 73 | Topspeed: 55
If you want something at a more workable each-way price, Homestrait makes some appeal. Her overall record doesn’t scream reliability, but there was more encouragement in that latest fourth than the bare form might suggest, and she’s beginning to look a little better treated now running off 73. She also gets in here with just 128lb, which matters in these fillies’ handicaps, and this smaller field could help her travel into the race more smoothly than has been the case before. At 9/1 with three places on offer, she looks the sensible each-way punt behind the favourite, especially if this turns tactical rather than strongly run. Bet: EACH-WAY
Bet: EACH-WAY
Betting Strategy
Keep it straightforward: Velvet Rhythm is the win play and looks the one with the most potential in a modest enough race. For an each-way angle, Homestrait appeals at the prices with place terms in her favour. Amelia’s Joy is the obvious danger after that latest win, while Blufferonthebus is capable of better than she showed last time but isn’t an easy one to trust.
