Catterick & Wincanton Racing Tips - GG Lucky 15 Tips For Tuesday 16 December

GG’s Lucky 15 tips for Tuesday 16 December feature selections from the meetings at Catterick and Wincanton throughout the afternoon.

GG tipster Joe Napier has picked out four best bets at the two British tracks hosting jumps racing on Tuesday. Firstly, he has one selection running in a handicap chase at Catterick, while he picks out three runners to follow from a competitive card at Wincanton.

Catterick Racing Tips (Tuesday 16 December)

Catterick’s seven-race card on Tuesday features a juvenile hurdle and novice hurdle, both of which host some promising types, as well as three handicaps with eight runners or more, which is good for punters.

1.15 Catterick – Passing Pleasure (1pt win – 11/10)

Going chasing just eight days after making a winning hurdles debut for his new yard at Musselburgh, Passing Pleasure could easily do the same over fences at Catterick. The five-year-old joined Oliver Greenall & Josh Guerriero earlier this month, cruising through his first start for them and winning by 5½ lengths without Craig Nichol having to get too serious. Allowed to race off the same mark over fences here, he should take all the beating for all there are some potentially attractively handicapped rivals against him, as he ran in one strong point-to-point to give him some useful jumping experience.

Wincanton Racing Tips (Tuesday 16 December)

A beginners’ chase to open Wincanton’s Tuesday card may be a match, but features two high quality combatants, while the rest of the meeting sees six races with sizeable fields for punters to get stuck into.

1.30 Wincanton – Hold The Serve (1pt win – 9/2)

Form players Gatineau Park and Piping Rock are respected, while former high class flat horse Hadrianus adds further depth. However, the eye is instead drawn to two horses with bigger reputations, with Hold The Serve preferred to Joyau Allen, Envoi Allen’s brother who has more to prove. On the other hand, the selection, while requiring a clear step forward from his debut, has more substance to his racing profile, having been backed into 13/8 favouritism at Cheltenham in November in a useful novice hurdle, won by subsequent Listed runner-up Soldier Reeves. Hold The Serve was obviously disappointing that day, but he must be well-regarded to have been so popular in that level of contest on debut, and it is little surprise given he won his only point-to-point well last December. Having undergone wind surgery, and with a tongue tie applied, he could be transformed here, with Olly Murphy pinning his hopes to him as the yard’s only runner on the day.

2.00 Wincanton – Bespoke Tailor  (1pt win – 7/2)

Paul Nicholls’ Swingin Safari may have won on debut when falling at the last, but he faces a rival with similar potential here in Bespoke Tailor for Oliver Signy. The five-year-old won a bumper impressively at Newcastle when with Ewan Whillans but after a lesser effort on his hurdles and stable bow at Fontwell in October, he leapt forward to be beaten just over two lengths at Cheltenham in the Soldier Reeves race mentioned above. The runner-up was the same in both races, but Bespoke Tailor went from 17 lengths adrift of him to just 1¾ lengths behind. That has earned him a provisional rating of 120, but we know that Cheltenham form has worked out decently, and he could easily have the ability to earn a first hurdles victory here.

2.30 Wincanton – Diplomatic Ash (1pt win – 11/2)

With Gary & Josh Moore in the winners of late, Diplomatic Ash could well deliver in the feature handicap at Wincanton on Tuesday. The Moores’ charge has needed a completed run to find his best form across the last two seasons, occasionally more than one, but found his way over fences in the middle of the previous campaign at Fontwell, scoring twice to rise up the handicap. After wind surgery followed two poorer runs to complete last season, he was second on return back at Fontwell and the winner has gone in again since, while the other two runners were second and third next time out. With the yard in irresistible form, a step forward looks more than likely.
