Three fixtures take place on Sunday 11 January, but our top resident tipster Andrew Mount opts to stick to the all-weather meeting at Chelmsford for his selections.
Check out Andrew’s two tips for today’s racing below.
Cheltenham Racing Tips (Sunday 11 January 2026)
A seven-race card takes place at Chelmsford with the first race at 1.42pm and the last race starting at 4.42pm. Andrew’s selection run in the 2.12pm and in the finale at 4.42pm.
2.12 Chelmsford – Waistcoat (0.5pt e/w – 8/1 generally)
The strong southerly wind – into their faces in the straight – is going to make life difficult for front-runners at Chelmsford today. That’s bad news for Ziggy’s Condor, the likeliest pacesetter in this 6f handicap according to Proform’s pace map. Richard Fahey’s five-year-old arrives her on the back of a 14-race losing streak and I’d rather side with Waistcoat, who returns to 6f for the first time since his Chepstow victory in late August. The five-year-old’s four subsequent outings have all taken place on Polytrack – a fourth and a ninth over 1m at Kempton and a pair of neck seconds over 7f at the same venue. I was especially taken with the way he scythed through the field on his latest outing, leaving the impression that he would have won had he got a completely clear run down the outside of the field (like the winner did), rather than duck towards the inner. He’s now 0-7 on the all-weather but this three-time 6f winner has yet to race at his optimum trip on synthetics. Rhys Clutterbuck will be able to get cover from stall 6 of 10 and as long as he doesn’t take the inside route (it’s been riding ‘dead’ on the fence of late) he should run a big race.
4.42 Chelmsford – Fulford Cross (0.5pt e/w – 20/1 bet365, 18/1 generally)
Fulford Cross (stall 2 of 9) is drawn closer to the inside rail than ideal in this 1m handicap, but David Simcock’s four-year-old will be ridden patiently and, with pace angles Tam Lin and Kessaar Power likely to cut across him from stalls 3 and 4 respectively, he’s likely to be switched wide for a run. The son of Lightning Spear could never get involved after a slow start at Wolverhampton last time, finishing a 7-1 eighth of ten, but the step back up to 1m will suit. His record on Polytrack reads 2831 (1-4), with the first defeat by a head when 12-1 for a 7f Kempton maiden. His only all-weather run at this trip produced a staying-on 25-1 third at Lingfield and his sire’s progeny tend to improve from age four, winning 18.2% of their all-weather starts at this age, as opposed to 9.1% as juveniles and 12.1% as three-year-olds. Backing this sire’s progeny in all-weather handicaps, regardless of age, would have found 21 winners from 131 bets (16%) for a profit of £31.95 to a £1 level stake at SP (+£65.09 at Betfair SP after % commission).
