Chepstow & Fairyhouse Racing Tips - Andrew Mount's Best Bets for Wednesday 8 July

Chepstow & Fairyhouse Racing Tips - Andrew Mount's Best Bets for Wednesday 8 July

Andrew Mount bagged some each-way profit on Tuesday and he has two tips for Wednesday 8th July. He heads to Chepstow and Fairyhouse for his best bets of the day, so check out his selections here…

Chepstow Racing Tips (Wednesday 8 July 2026)

Six races take place at Chepstow on Wednesday, with Andrew opting for an eye-catching big-priced selection in the 7.36pm contest.

7.36 Chepstow – Amathus (0.5pt e/w – 25/1 bet365, 22/1 generally)

There was a huge ‘golden highway’ situation at Chepstow last week, favouring those drawn high on the straight course. There’s no guarantee that it will be in play again today, but Amathus (stall 8 of 9) is potentially well drawn near likely pacesetter Bobby Dassler (stall 7) and is better equipped to cope with a straight mile than the majority of his rivals who are Bath/Brighton regulars (both left-handed tracks). Galactic Glow (stall 9) is one I’m keen to take on given the balance of his straight-track form. Patrick Chamings’ veteran was well beaten at Brighton last time but that was over 7f and though yet to win over today’s 1m trip he has plenty of placed form over it.  He hasn’t raced here for a while but has kept on well from off the pace in each of his three course starts and he could creep into framer contention up the far side rail.

Fairyhouse Racing Tips (Wednesday 8 July 2026)

A bumper eight-race flat card comes from Fairyhouse, where Andrew has a sole tip in the 8.00pm race.

8.00 Fairyhouse – I Bid You Ajou (1pt each-way, 4/1 with the firms paying three places, e.g. bet365m Betfred, Coral, Ladbrokes)

I Bid You Ajou caught the eye when mid-division at Leopardstown back in April, doing well to finish just over seven lengths behind the winner after racing against the far side rail when the winners were challenging late/wide (winner, second and fourth drawn 15, 14 and 16 of 16, non-runner adjusted). Mark Fahey’s five-year-old was beaten by a short head into second at Naas next time and has run well in defeat in his three subsequent runs, notably when meeting trouble in a two-length seventh of 22 at the Curragh on May 23rd. He’s yet to win beyond 6f but he does stay today’s 7f trip and, more importantly, he returns to Fairyhouse where he’s unbeaten in three previous visits (he’s 0-29 elsewhere). Stall 3 is another positive and he’s likely to prove hard to beat.
