Four horse racing fixtures take place on Tuesday 27 January and Andrew Mount heads to Chepstow and Wolverhampton for his best bets of the day.
He opts for two selections in the 2.02pm at Chepstow and also another couple of tips for the all-weather race at Wolves at 8.30pm.
Chepstow Racing Tips (Tuesday 27 January 2026)
Soft conditions will be the order of the day at Chepstow with their seven races taking place between 1.00pm and 4.22pm. Andrew’s brace of selections come in the 12-runner handicap hurdle at 2.02pm.
2.02 Chepstow – Castelfort (0.5pt e/w – 7/1 bet365) & Bingoo (0.5pt e/w – 10/1 bet365)
With rain forecast on what is already being described as soft going, stamina is going to be at a premium in this 2m3.5f handicap hurdle. That said, the cut back from 3m is not going to be ideal for in-form Kayley Woollacott’s El Capitaine who holds entries in the 2m7.5f handicap hurdle at Sandown on Saturday and the Grade 1 Albert Bartlett at the Cheltenham festival and there. He’s of interest going forward but I’m going to take him on here. Form figures this season of 575 (0-3) has seen Castelfort available at a bigger price than he deserves to be and Jane Williams’ six-year-old is worth an each-way nibble. He fared best of those to come from off the pace when a 12-1 fifth of 12 under 7lb conditional jockey Isabelle Ryder at Newbury last month and Ciaran Gethings is back on board today. The return to Chepstow is another positive, as his record here over hurdles reads 2113 (2-3).
The other interesting one is Bingoo, who lost his way for Jimmy Moffatt before his debut for Robbie Llewellyn at Leicester last month. The veteran clocked a good time that day when second of four to Double Oban and his trainer’s runners do well at the second time of asking after switching yards, landing eight of their 40 such starts in handicap chases/hurdles for a profit of £52.07 to a £1 level stake at SP.
Wolverhampton Racing Tips (Tuesday 27 January 2026)
A whopping nine races take place during Wolverhampton’s all-weather card, but you have to wait until the final race on the card at 8.30pm for Andrew’s two bets in the finale.
8.30 Wolverhampton – Street Life (1pt e/w – 11/4 bet365) & Buraback (0.5pt e/w – 8/1 bet365)
Street Life has a solid record over tonight’s course and distance in Class 5 or lower company when dawn in stall 4 or lower, recording form figures of 122323521233313 (3-15). Pat Morris’ front-runner rallied gamely when a one-length 15-2 third in Class 5 company here last Friday, recording a fast time in the process, and drops down to Class 6 company tonight. He was taken on for the lead by 5-4 favourite Lazzar that day and could get an easy time of things in front.
Buraback doesn’t enjoy Southwell but his record in Class 6 handicaps here or at Chelmsford, when returned to the track within three weeks of his latest outing, stands at six wins from 14 starts for a profit of £12.83. He tends to perform best from mid-January onwards and the return to 5f will suit after keen-going efforts over 6f the last twice.
