The 2026 Clarence House Chase will be held at Ascot this Saturday, with the 2m Grade 1 contest hosting a hugely exciting renewal at the weekend, with progressive chasers and champions alike running for Britain and Ireland.
For the feature race of the weekend, we provide you with all of the important info, including our runners guide, trends and tips for the Clarence House Chase.
2026 Clarence House Chase Runners
Only four runners have been declared for the 2026 Clarence House Chase, but the contest could hardly have attracted a more intriguing and classy line-up. Tingle Creek hero Il Etait Temps proved a class apart from his rivals at Sandown before Christmas and will look to secure a sixth straight win and sixth Grade 1 in all for his career. He will once again face Jonbon, who has chased him home at Sandown twice since April, but won this last year and will have Harry Cobden aboard for the first time. Gidleigh Park was a very promising novice chase last season and could be progressive, while Thistle Ask is undoubtedly so, taking a big leap in class that is merited after his sensational exploits in handicap company the last twice.

Il Etait TempsClarence House Chase Trends
Our Weekend Watch tipster Dave Young has looked into the key Clarence House Chase trends in his dedicated article, the main stats from which are summarised below.

Clarence House Chase Tips
It is difficult to imagine any result other than an Il Etait Temps victory if Willie Mullins’ grey displays anything approaching his best at Ascot on Saturday. The Mullins team are beginning to roll after a tricky period post-Christmas, but the selection is so consistent at putting in high class performances that any form concerns about his trainer would be mitigated by his quality anyway. Thistle Ask may put the field’s collective jumping powers under pressure from the front and can hold on for second ahead of Jonbon, whose ability is on the wane now aged ten and may not be able to provide Harry Cobden with a memorable first ride in JP McManus’ silks since becoming his number one rider.
