Not since the days of Enable winning the September Stakes has Kempton seen such publicity for an all-weather meeting. Constitution Hill will be in town on Wednesday for his second flat start.
Can Nicky Henderson’s star swagger to another success? Our in-house tipster Joe Napier previews the Virgin Bet Novice Stakes below, predicting a similar outcome.
Constitution Hill Form
Constitution Hill‘s form over hurdles dipped due to a succession of falls. However, with no obstacles in the way, he made an unbelievable start to his flat career. He blew away his rivals at Southwell by nine-and-a-half lengths under Oisin Murphy.
Ryan Moore takes over in the saddle while Murphy is serving a ban. That is the measure of the appeal of riding Constitution Hill in these early days of his flat career. Though he now carries a winners’ penalty, that should make little difference to the result. Connections are already eyeing up substantially bigger prizes during the rest of the season.
Constitution Hill Opponents
Classical Allusion is himself unbeaten after winning on his racecourse debut. Andrew Balding’s charge scored over the same track and trip as Constitution Hill, though far less impressively. Even so, that was a likeable effort first time out and the runner-up is rated 80. He should give Constitution Hill more of a race than any of his debut opponents.
Both Roadlesstravelled and Star Artist were well-beaten behind the Henderson superstar that day. However, the former advertised the form when a close second next time out. Neither should be making an impression in terms of winning here though even now that they receive weight from the winner.
Serviceman has missed 489 days since he last ran. He is another Balding-trained runner, though is best watched in this company. The same could be said of both Edward Sexton and Victors Spirit, whose form is well below the required standard.
However, Keep It Cool could be interesting for each-way purposes. Her jumps form is the worst of any to have raced under National Hunt rules. However, she was second on her flat debut at Wolverhampton, finishing ahead of a previous winner. This trip should suit better too and she could nab a place.

Constitution HillTips for the 7.30 @ Kempton on Wednesday
There is little way to oppose Constitution Hill, who should comfortably make it two out of two on the flat. His win at Southwell was sumptuous and any resemblance of that form would make him extremely tough to beat. Classical Allusion is well-bred and should give him more to think about than any of his debut rivals. He has been off for 179 days though, so an interesting each-way alternative at a big price could be Keep it Cool, who outperformed market expectations over a shorter trip on his first flat start for James Owen.
