Curragh & Plumpton Racing Tips - GG Lucky 15 Tips for Sunday 19 April

Curragh & Plumpton Racing Tips - GG Lucky 15 Tips for Sunday 19 April

This weekend draws to a close with a high-class day of racing on Sunday. There is Group race action at the Curragh and a class 2 handicap at Plumpton among the quality cards.

Our lucky 15 best bets all run at those two meetings. GG tipster Joe Napier has two tips apiece at the Curragh and Plumpton.

Curragh Racing Tips (Sunday 19 April)

The Curragh’s meeting features the Group 3 Alleged Stakes on Sunday. One of our top tips is a British raider who can bring home the spoils.

1.50 Curragh – Sarahmae (1pt win – )

Denis Hogan’s Sarahmae has form figures of 414 over course and distance and is back on her last winning mark. That mark was utilised to great effect over this track and trip when winning a seven-runner handicap in August. Since then, she has run promisingly twice over 5f, including here, while seeming not to stay 6f. The experiment over that longer distance now appears to be over, but it has improved her chances in the handicap. She is 11lb better off with top-weight Gazelle d’Or compared to a two-length deficit here late last season. That demonstrates her potential on this rating, with Reese Holohan taking off a further 7lb with his claim.

3.35 Curragh – Royal Rhyme (1pt win – 5/2)

Karl Burke believes Royal Rhyme may still be capable of landing a Group 1 at some stage. He could therefore be too classy in the Group 3 Alleged Stakes on Sunday. The son of Lope De Vega has a strong record first time out for the year of 1413. One of those wins came at this level in Sandown’s Brigadier Gerard Stakes, while he was third in the Group 1 Prix Ganay at Longchamp to begin last season. The key to him is cut in the surface: all five of his wins had “soft” in the going description. That was not the case when fifth in the Tattersalls Gold Cup when last seen, but was when he was a close third in the Champion Stakes in 2024. He was only narrowly behind Anmaat and Calandgan that day. That is very strong form, he should shake off a long layoff, and is the one to beat.

Plumpton Racing Tips (Sunday 19 April)

Plumtpon’s Sussex Stayers’ Hurdle is the headline race in Britain on Sunday. Our lucky 15 best bets run in that race and its follow-up.

3.27 Plumpton – Elysian Knight (1pt win – 8/1)

Back over hurdles, Elysian Knight looks a plausible contender for Neil Mulholland. He has run well in 2026 over fences, but influent jumping has potentially cost him better finishes. He has still recorded a second at Musselburgh and third at Newbury when seeing out his races well. Down 2lb in the handicap for that last effort, which came behind an impressive winner who has bolted up again since, he is beginning to look well-handicapped, as his overall profile suggests he has improved this term. Conditions may be ideal for him to contend.

4.02 Plumpton – Roe And Co (1pt win – )

There are some mixed signals emerging from the form Roe And Co’s five rivals. As such, Jamie Snowden’s freshened up eight-year-old is preferred from the foot of the weights. He was a late starter in the National Hunt sphere, only making his first appearance as a seven-year-old. However, he really started to get the hang of racing in the autumn, completing a hat-trick at Leicester in December. He then encountered soft ground at Fontwell in January, going which has resulted in his worst three rules performances. He clearly has an engine though; he beat Oscars Brother in a point-to-point in November 2023. Given how progressive he started to look after going chasing, progress could be resumed here, with good ground expected.
