MAKETH BELIEVETH has a solid profile and was slowly on the upgrade last season despite running over a variety of trips and spending most of his time on the all-weather. Still, his two turf runs were very creditable and suggested that this handicap mark was well within reach and given he has only had three career-starts on the turf, there could be plenty more to come from him. This is a winnable race back into class 5 company after being touched off by an upwardly mobile rival at Newbury in October in a good class 3 race and compensation likely awaits connections.

This is a tricky race with the two at the top of the market having obvious claims but RHYTHMIC INTENT goes well fresh and the combination of this 1m2f trip and soft ground could turn out to be right up his street. His profile is an interesting one with a record over this distance of 261302 but when the ground has been on slower side (soft in the description) it reads 212 and the fact that this is a testing track will probably play to his strengths also. He has been gelded over the winter and now could be the time to catch him at big odds.

KING EAGLE – 3:50 Pontefract, 0.5pt win – SP
Frankel colt KING EAGLE shaped with encouragement on debut at Nottingham in October despite looking extremely green under hands and heels pressure in amongst a large field and it was no surprise to see those with experience come to the fore. He hit the line hard and went with enthusiasm back to the paddock after the race and it was a performance that suggested he was one to keep on side for the following season.
He is a half brother to the useful Magical Morning who took a good step forward to win on seasonal return as a three-year-old after just one run the previous season and this race is not that strong on paper. Soul Stopper is clearly the one to beat but he looked in desperate need of the run at Sandown last term and he doesn’t set a surpassable level. Savvy Victory has stamina doubts and Levitate and Thundering are in the same boat as the selection.
