Navegaon Gate – 2.40 Warwick – 0.5pt each-way – 7/1 (4 places)
A tricky race this, but it may pay to side with four-year-old NAVEGAON GATE who gets a healthy 15 pounds weight for age allowance and arrives on the back of an improved effort at Southwell last time when chasing home a subsequent winner.
Sam Twiston-Davies looked flat out for much of the race over 2m4f on that occasion, and given he had been running over 1m4-2m on the flat for Ed Walker; it’s highly likely this step up to 3m for the first time on his second start in a handicap will prove the right move. He showed enough at Southwell last time to suggest he could play a hand in a race of this nature, and he looks value, over the worthy favourite Money Spinner at his morning odds.

Head Law – 3.50 Warwick – 2pts win – 5/4 generally
HEAD LAW is a horse we have had on our radar for some time now, and his latest effort at Huntingdon was the first time he had finished out a race after shaping with plenty of promise on two starts prior. He makes his handicap debut today off an opening handicap mark of 109, and that considerably underestimates his potential.
He was a cosy winner at Huntingdon under Jonjo O’Neill Jr in a race that recorded a good time figure, and this quicker surface will, well suit him. The clear danger is the improving Punctuation, who may not be favoured by this drying ground with all of his best work – including on the flat – coming on a softer surface.

King Ferdinand – 5.35 Wetherby – 1pt win – 11/4 Generally
KING FERDINAND clocked a much faster circuit time than World Trip did on the same card at Huntingdon on their latest starts and was also bang on with his three to finish time, and given he is less exposed than the latter, he gets the vote to go in again.
That was Tom Lacey’s runner’s first start over 3m, and given the way he finished that race (strong at the line), there is likely more to come. He looks just the type to rack up a sequence, and with it hard to make a solid case for anything else in the race, he looks the way to go.
