ASRAABB was green as grass on debut at Lingfield and was held up at the rear of the field in a very slowly run race. Still, once the penny had dropped entering the home straight, she ran on very strongly in the closing stages.
That experience won’t be lost on her, and neither will the run for fitness, given the size of the filly and the winner advertised that form well at Goodwood next time. That form itself is rated around the 80-85 mark in my book, and that’s enough to take care of Tango Tonight, who sets a fair standard. Fine Balance represents a yard that sent out a useful one in this contest last year.

7:05pm Chelmsford City – Spirit Mixer (1pt win – 5/2)
SPIRIT MIXER returned to action in a hot contest at Salisbury in a race that has worked out very well before scoring at the same venue next time, and he has plenty more to offer at this distance on the balance of his form.
He ran a blinder last year in the Old Rowley Cup when sixth behind some useful horses, and his previous run at Haydock over today’s trip when touched off by Bandinelli (now 11lbs higher) looks like a strong piece of form. He is improving, and connections have found another good opportunity for him to score.

8.20pm Sandown – Professional Widow (1pt win – 5/2, Take SP)
PROFESSIONAL WIDOW was a shade better than the bare result at Nottingham on seasonal return, and she should strip a good deal fitter for that run. She scored second time out at Nottingham last term, and she ran a good race here in a much stronger event last Aug when attempting to give away plenty of weight to fellow improvers.
She has dropped down the handicap and is seven pounds lower today, which allows her to drop in grade into Class 5 company for the first time. She had excuses for her other visit to this venue, and this looks like a good opportunity for her.
