1.40 Epsom – Lord Rapscallion (1.5pt win – 4/1 generally )

The handicapper has been kind to LORD RAPSCALLION and left him on the same mark as his narrow second to Larado here ten days ago, and the combination of some cut in the ground and the drop into a Class 4 event can see him get that illusive first victory in Britain. He has form figures of 224 here at Epsom, and all three came in much stronger contests than this one. This race represents a drop into the lowest grade of race he has contested since 2019, now sneaking into a 0-80, and he is drawn well in stall 3. The positive stack up for Lord Rapscallion, and he has track, trip, ground and class of race all ticked off, so he gets a confident vote under Ben Curtis.

3.10 Doncaster – Eshaada (2pt win – 13/8 Betfair/Paddy Power, 6/4 generally)

There was plenty to like about ESHAADA’S run at Haydock, and this looks like a fine opportunity for her to score. She chased home arguably the best older filly in training over staying distances when third in the Lancashire Oaks, and she was value for more, having been hampered on the rail when building up esteem. Sea La Rosa split the pair and has been one of the most progressive horses this season and has given that form a boost by scoring the next twice. Eshaada has one real blip on her CV, and that came when disappointing in the Yorkshire Oaks and given she would have needed her seasonal return at Newbury, she looks ready to kick on. Already a Group winner, she can add another Group success to her achievements and this step up in trip could easily bring out further improvement.

3.45 Doncaster – Zainalarab (2pt win – 2/1 BetVictor, 7/4 generally)

It would be highly disappointing if ZAINALARAB was not better than this rating of 88. He fairly bolted up on handicap debut at Sandown over an inform rival that is a solid yardstick for handicapping horses. He crossed the line with any amount in hand, wanting to quicken away again, and he left a deep and positive impression. Many of these have done their running for the season, and Zainalarab’s is just getting going. He has been given the softly softly approach, and although this is the deepest contest he will have contested, he is potentially a brilliant prospect. He can leave this rating well behind.
