Daryl Carter’s Best Bets (Tuesday 19th April)

Our top tipster, Daryl Carter has a trio of selections across the day’s card at Epsom on Tuesday afternoon. Find them below alongside Bet365‘s new customer offer of Bet £10, Get £50 In Free Bets.

1.50 Epsom – Mokaatil (1pt win 7/2 generally)

MOKAATIL will probably be run off his feet in the early stages of this contest, but he is sure to come home strongly when the pace collapses and some of his best performances have come at this course. Harry Davies claims a further 7lbs off of his falling handicap mark, and he caught the eye at Lingfield last time when not knocked about. He has ideal conditions in this contest to get back to winning ways, and the tongue-tie and visor combination goes back on after being absent for two runs this term. It’s easy to argue he has optimum conditions here, and many will be seen to best effect after today.

2.20 Epsom – Mighty Ulysses (2pt win 9/4 generally)

I am happy to take a chance that MIGHTY ULYSSES is fit and well first time up, and the presence of Frankie Dettori on board as well as the good record the yard have in this contest heightens confidence. He really impressed me on debut at Yarmouth last year with the way he travelled through a good Maiden contest and quickened clear in excellent style. He was always wanting to go half a yard quicker than the horses he faced that day, and Robert Havlin had to keep him under wraps to travel at the speed of his rivals. Still, there was a moment in the race where he went to quicken up, and Havlin almost looked surprised at what he had underneath him. It wasn’t until the final two furlongs were he really quickened, and the response to the stick was electric. Plenty of these are unexposed, so naturally, there is a concern about other runners in the race taking a big step forward, but it’s also highly likely we saw a very good horse at Yarmouth last year.

2.55 Epsom – Arenas Del Tiempo (1pt win 7/2 generally)

ARENAS DEL TIEMPO has been knocking at the door, and this could be a good opportunity for her to get back to winning ways on this return to Epsom where she has gone so well previously. She improved her RPRS at Lingfield, and the switch back to turf could see this four-year-old improve further. She scored on her first run back on turf last season at Brighton, and she has been a steady improver for the yard. Hollie Doyle gets on well with this horse, and unlike a few of these, she has scope off her mark of 83. The first port of call for this contest was Soto Sizzler, but he will need the first time cheek-pieces to improve him to defy this career-high mark now, and he isn’t getting any younger. Achelois is a horse we followed last term when met with disappointment more so than success, and she is entitled to need the run here, and the same applies to Vulcan. The Johnston horses need to find improvement from somewhere, but it’s not wildly out of the question they do, and they will want the lead, I suspect, so in the hope, Hollie just sits off the pace she could be in pole position to attack.
