12.25 Sedgefield – Telhimlisten (2pt win – 2/1 generally)
The form of TELHIMLISTEN’S point-to-point debut has worked out well in the context of this race (brought down when travelling well behind the winner rated 128) and his third to the useful Famaftertheglory (122)in that sphere also has some serious substance to it (nearly everything rated 20lbs higher than him). That was more than two years ago, so he has clearly had some issues, but he made a quiet hurdle debut at Southwell and then showed plenty on his run almost a year later at the same venue without being asked for an effort. His Musselburgh outing on seasonal return when beaten 18 lengths – is better than it seems after he travelled very well and was only asked once the winner had set sail for home. He has been given a very low rating of 82 by the assessor for this handicap debut, and his latest RPR is ten pounds higher. Jennie Candlish doesn’t have a great record with handicap debutants, but I doubt she has had one as well-treated as this.
12.35 Southwell – Sublime Heights (1pt win – 5/2 bet365, 2/1 generally)
SUBLIME HEIGHTS took well to the cheekpieces first time at Plumpton, and with the promise of more to come, he gets the vote to land back-to-back victories. He ran well here in his Maiden Hurdle in a race that’s worked out well, and he had done little wrong over hurdles. Today he faces mainly exposed rivals on the downgrade, and he could be the type to rack up a sequence of victories.
14.05 – Southwell – Queens Rock (1pt win – 6/5 bet365, 10/11 generally)
This can go to QUEENS ROCK on return, who shaped with a good deal of promise when last seen in a bumper at Ffos Las and looks just the type to excel now tackling obstacles. She has point-to-point experience, which will hold her in good stead and this race requires running to no more than 105 to score. It would be disappointing if she wasn’t able to reach that level, and Nicky Henderson has had a 32% strike rate here in the last five years.
