RAMENSKY got off the mark at Wolverhampton last time despite suffering a steadilly run affair at the rear of the field, but he ate up the ground inside the final two furlongs in the style of a useful performer. That form has little substance, but his closing sectionals were good, and he now makes his handicap debut off what looks like a very workable opening rating of 78. He bumped into a useful sort in Rathgar at the back end of last season but was done for pace at a crucial stage in the race, and the step up in distance, along with the much-needed headgear, has brought out a fair bit of improvement. He is worth chancing in this open contest with the promise of more to come in this sphere, and his trainer William Haggas has had two winners and three seconds from seven runners at this venue this term (26% overall).
