3.00 Worcester – Pisgah Pike (1pt win – 4/1 generally)
PISGAH PIKE carries his fair share of weight here, but the cheek-pieces sparked him back to life at Market Rasen in a deep contest and on balance, this is one of his easier assignments over hurdles. He remains unexposed as a hurdler finishing in the first two on six of his eight starts, and it bodes well for backers that he is twice a winner here over fences. He is one to keep on side after a wind surgery (he recently had his fourth bout), and the time figure of his Market Rasen win was a career-best by some way. He appeals most to Bannister, who is edging the right way.
3.15 Bangor – The Golden Rebel (1pt win – 9/2 Bet365, 4/1 generally)
Why connections tried to mould THE GOLDEN REBEL into a three-miler back in April is beyond me because he has stacks of pace and the return to this trip on the back of a 115-day break is a welcome sign. He was held up to get the trip at Uttoxeter in the Staffordshire Plate, and he travelled strongly until three-out before his tank emptied, and it was the same story in the Novices’ Champion Chase at Ayr behind Dusart. He remains unexposed and is well worth another chance now, sneaking into a class 3 0 -130 against some more exposed summer jumpers, especially if adopting his usual front-running attacking tactics. Northern Bound is a clear danger.
