1.50 Goodwood – Caradoc (1pt win – 7/1 bet365, Coral, BoyleSports)
CARADOC has been frustrating to back, but he caught the eye at York with his finishing effort, and he didn’t look entirely at home at Epsom on his penultimate run, so he may be worth forgiving one last time here at Goodwood.
He ran a blinder behind Moktasaab back in April when undone by the slow pace on offer, but with plenty of pace drawn wide, this is sure to be run at a solid gallop.
He was second in this race last year behind the very smart Migration on heavy ground, and he is drawn well in stall five. This is the final chance with Caradoc, as after today, he will of had every ideal scenario.
3.00 Goodwood – Sacred (2pt win @ SP)
It would be highly surprising should SACRED not turn out to be a Group 1 performer over this 7f distance for which she is 2/2, and her eye-catching run when fifth beat a length in the Platinum Jubilee would concur with that theory.
She is drawn in stall 9, which may force her to get lucky in running, but this race usually lends itself to one coming from off the pace.
The four-year-old is so lightly raced after just nine starts that she could easily improve past many of these under optimum conditions today, and she is entitled to improve for her first run after 308 days off the track. There’s plenty to like about her chances; still, I think she will drift in the betting.
5.55 Goodwood – Kimngrace (1pt win – 9/2 generally)
George Rooke gave KIMNGRACE a poor ride at Haydock when a NAP for this column and the jockey switch for Ryan Moore should be viewed positively. She has gone up five pounds for his shorthead defeat, but the winner scored going away next time at Doncaster and is 11lbs higher in the handicap, and the third won next time out.
That five-furlong trip is on the sharp side for the selection, and the return to six furlongs will see her in a better light today. Her record at six furlongs reads 113, including a win here at Goodwood, and she has plenty more to come judged on the latest evidence.
