3.10 Leicester – JACAMAR (2.5pt win – 11/4 generally)
JACAMAR is one of the better bets of the entire day, returning to Class 3 company for the first time since bolting up here over course and distance in March last year off 1lb higher. The return to good ground is a big positive to his chances, but he did catch the eye at Cheltenham on soft ground on new years day, staying on into sixth. This is certainly not as deep as that contest, and there is still improvement in him. He makes stacks of appeal under Paddy Brennan in this poor race. Moonlighter was flattered by making all of the running at Chepstow last time and is on the downgrade.
4.30 Exeter – OSCARS MOONSHINE (1pt win – 13/2 888, 6/1 generally)
This can go to OSCARS MOONSHINE, who travelled through his race at Ffos Las like one well ahead of the handicapper, but a bad error at two-out saw him empty quickly and eased off. That was his second start after 395 days off the track, and it may have been the case that he needed the run. This is now a drop in grade, a return to 3m, and back on a sounder surface at a track that he has scored at previously. It’s a positive that Harry Cobden is in the saddle, and this is not a strong race for the grade. Top Of The Bill is better than he showed at Newcastle and is the chief threat.
