3.07 Haydock – Chambard (2pt win – 3/1 bet365, 5/2 generally)
CHAMBARD looks like a favourable price here against stablemate Coo Star Sivola, and he is taken to continue the progression he showed the last term when which ended with success in the Kim Muir at the Cheltenham Festival. That was his career-best effort, and he will have no issue with the soft ground or the absence. He has a good record fresh and is unexposed at staying distances with his Kim Muir run on the first attempt. He ticks plenty of boxes in what is a far weaker race on the whole than his latest effort, and he is less exposed than many of these rivals after just 11 outings over fences – he has finished in the first two in nine of those. Regular rider Lucy Turner claims five off of his back which should ease the burden of top weight, and he has plenty going for him.
7.20 Kempton – Pistoletto (1pt win – 12/1 generally)
PISTOLETTO makes plenty of appeal at double-figure odds and dropped back into a Class 4 contest for the first time since September 2021 when scoring at Lingfield. He was last seen in the Cambridgeshire at Newmarket but returned to the AW for the first time since June when rated 10lbs higher (beaten a length in a good class 3) and returns to Kempton for which his form figures read: 7 (2m non-stayer only attempt), 4 (Listed), 4 (called into the steward’s room) and 1. Four of his six wins have come on the AW, and the return to this grade is a positive. Piece Of History is feared most ahead of Aussie Banker.
