3.00 Salisbury – Leuven Power (2pts win – 9/4 bet365, 7/4 generally)
This looks like a good oportunity for LEUVEN POWER to score returned to the scene of his penultimate start which resulted in victory thanks to his staying power. On that same card ran Duelist over 1m but the evidence would suggest that the selection is not just speedier but a stronger stayer.
The move up in trip wouldn’t be entirely reccomended on breeding but he is a strong stayer and this is a weak enough event. He lost little in defeat to the smart and well handicapped Love De Vega (bounced next time) but he failed to handle the undulations there and he didn’t get a race run to suit held up at the rear of the field.
He should be going extremely close to winning this contest dropped in grade for his second start in a handicap.
4.00 Salisbury – Zlatan (1pt win – 13/2 – Ladbrokes, 11/2 bet365, 888sport)
ZLATAN caught the eye behind our winning selection Global Spirit at Pontefract seven days ago when denied a clear run on two occasions and then outpaced towards the finish. He looks ready to strike and drops in grade into this contest for horses that have not won a flat race in 2022.
He is not one for maximum faith to back that effort up but he did score from his only effort when turned out within seven days and everys season he has taken four runs to hit form. He is worth chancing at the prices.
5.10 Beverley – Frisky (1pt win – 11/4 generally)
FRISKY took a big step forward at Leicester regardless if her rivals gave their running or not and she did have Grantley Hall behind her on that ones debut at Pontefract. Frederick Larson’s claim of five and her good draw in stall three could give her the advantage today.
Her form has worked out well in multiple places to suggest the latest run was no fluke so its worth giving her the benefit of the doubt on this occasion. She makes her handicap debut today off what looks a fair mark and she is the speedier of the two horses mentioned.
It’s a surprise that they have opted to drop Grantley Hall back in trip given her dam half sister to an oaks winner and she is bred for further.
