6.35 Ripon – Mr Lupton (0.5pt each-way – 16/1 generally)
A very tricky race this, but MR LUPTON wasn’t given an overly hard time on his reappearance run at York, and he has a fine second time out record, so the drop in grade and smaller field scenario for the first time since April last year when rated 103 (now 95) could be the ticket to see him bounce back to form.
He is a bit long in the tooth to expect any improvement, but this is his first attempt down into a Class 3 Handicap, and he is nine pounds better off with Fortamour for their meeting here last year, where a neck separated the two. He shaped well at York in October when beaten just five lengths in a very hot Class 2 event, and this is the easiest assignment he has had for some time.
Outside of Group company, he has been better than the bare result in small fields. In fact, four of his ten wins have come in field sizes of 10 or less and seven placed efforts totalling 11-18. He looks worth a small each-way play.

7.30 Kempton – Dreaming (1pt each-way, 25/1 bet365, 22/1 generally)
DREAMING shaped with a good bit of promise as a two-year-old over six furlongs while looking as though a step up in distance would do him no harm, and he travelled well for a long way at Newmarket over 1m before failing to handle the dip and almost falling in the process.
He was yet to be asked for an effort, and that race has worked out extremely well. He was a big eye-catcher, and this doesn’t have the depth of that contest. He returns to the scene of his Novice win last term from stall 12, which was a fair performance given he led from almost pillar to post.
Back at Kempton today and up to this 7f trip should prove spot-on on his second start on handicap debut. The market has taken his latest performance at Newmarket literally, but there are plenty of reasons he should put in a far better effort today.
